Oh, and I just saw your note about Becky. Extremely sorry!!! I'm fresh, not even a week out from losing Frankie. We had her over 14 years and I'm devastated. https://cheezburger.com/9356088320

Oh my goodness!!! SO glad you got good news. Very happy for my friend. Becky looks wonderful and so do you.

Yeah, I always thought so. I've also sent the shelter items they need in the name of my loved ones.

By beckysdad on Oct 19, 2018 at 11:17 AM

ah...nice idea

By Foxkatt on Oct 19, 2018 at 11:14 AM

Yes, she was your little love. I wasn't necessarily saying to get another furbaby. Folks around here will sponsor a pet at the shelter so all their fees will be covered for someone able to adopt them. I like to do things like that in the memory of one of my beloved babies. It's a comfort to know another critter will find it's home because of them.

By beckysdad on Oct 19, 2018 at 10:41 AM

Thanks, Foxy. Becky was a gem. Emotionally I'd love to give myself over to a new furbaby right now but there are just too many moving parts to life to do a new relationship justice. Wow...Fancy passed. Lat month was a rough one for furkids. One niece lost her 16 year old dog and another niece lost her cat who was over 20. Sigh...

Oh Dave, I just saw about Becky and my heart is breaking with yours. She was an amazing girl and will leave a huge hole. I hope in time, you will be able to do something for another critter in her honor. You two were among my favorites here and I consider you frewnds always! I know AnOldCowhand feels the same. He just lost his precious Fancy last month too. Heartbreaking...truly. My sincerest sympathies on your loss.

Actually that 10pm sounds like heaven. I'm up too late far too often for my own good or preferences. We play Double Twelves Dominoes that make a train. It's easy and rather fun. The family has several sets and we usually have two tables running. Aww....you're such a good son. Skritches to your sweet Becky too. :) Gonna scoop my Frankie up and take her to bed.

By beckysdad on Jan 2, 2017 at 8:21 PM

I had no desire to see midnight. I was out at my usual 10pm. Dominoes with the fam sounds fun. I used to play Tri-ominoes with my parents quite often. Sadly the game is beyond Dad now. Most nights when I 'm with the folks the Warriors are playing and Mom and Dad have turned into big time fans. That usually takes up our evenings. Skritches to your girl.

By Foxkatt on Jan 2, 2017 at 6:29 PM

Yeah, we played dominoes until midnight with family, then hot-footed it straight to bed cause I had a 6am alarm for working tech at church the next morning. Puppers would definitely make a super feetie warmer but she's not a cuddler. She likes to be NEAR her human, not necessarily touching though. Oh, and she definitely wants to block me in so I can't go anywhere else unless I have to step over her. Keepin' tabs you know, LOL. Gotta love my girlie dog.

By beckysdad on Jan 2, 2017 at 5:32 PM

Style? Us? Ha! Comfort? Most certainly. Puppy feetswarmers take the sting out of the prospects of returning to work. Woofers make everything better.

By Foxkatt on Jan 2, 2017 at 5:17 PM

Aww....thanks. Hope you guys celebrated in style. Ugh, I've got to go back to work starting tomorrow. Got my little puppy lump o'fur at my feeties though.

Purdy! Happy new year to you, too.

Frankie always has to be near me. When I'm on my porch (workroom) framing or making my jewelry, she's gotta be there even if it's all night. She doesn't cuddle, but will once in awhile, put her rump up next to you. That's love to her. Such characters. Skritch has been given. Glad you liked the Fractal. I know I'm not as good as many online Fractal artists, but I do my own thing with them. :)

By beckysdad on Dec 24, 2016 at 9:05 AM

Yup, dogs asleep at our feet are wonderful...during the winter. I'm not a fan when Miss Becky does that in the summer. She generates too much heat. That fractal is gorgeous. You've got a talent I can't touch. Becky appreciated that pet you sent along. Give Frankie a skritch.

Yeppers, it never seems to let up much. I suppose I could say it keeps me outta trouble, but THAT wouldn't be true, LOL. Aww....you are SUCH a good son as well as friend. Have a marvelous holiday yourself and pet that sweet Becky for me. :) My little Frankie is a "dead" thing at my feet this very moment, so adorable.

By beckysdad on Dec 23, 2016 at 6:45 PM

Well, you sure have your hands full...as usual. I'm glad that when the budget music stopped you had a chair to sit in. It seems jobs are all too precarious anymore. And those addictions of food, shelter and clothing just never seem to go away. I hope things slow down enough for you to enjoy the holidays. My life is simple right now as looking after the folks is my sole concern. It really is fun to have a list of things that have my mom all bothered and I just work through the list and make things easier for her. looking after Dad is a full time job for her so anything I can do to lighten her load is a big deal. Have a great holiday!

By Foxkatt on Dec 22, 2016 at 8:48 PM

Oh boy, that sounds like a lovely time. Ready? Heck no...not even. I've been running ragged trying to catch up a bit. Gotta be at a friends house tomorrow night and Saturday am running tech at church by 2:30pm with two services and the family's dinner to rush to right after. So, I'll need to get my salads made and presents wrapped....well, sometime. I've been making orange and clove pomanders to give as gifts so those have been taking up my time too. What a lovely thing you've made for your dad. That's just marvelous and sure to be appreciated. Work situation has leveled out. I of course lost my job in Geography, but was able to bump someone else out of theirs (that sucked). So now I'm in Curriculum & Instruction with the 2nd boss since I started there. Oh, and I'm doing two peoples jobs as well. New boss is a nice guy but this place is a lot busier. My blood pressure gave us a scare, but the doc said I had to go off my Sudafed & that would fix it. Still dealing. The art still ongoing. I've got beautiful calendars for sale this year. I went to several new shows this holiday season, but still need to find somewhere in a larger venue to exhibit. Settling into the new job set me back a bit on that. I need to take time and work on some new pieces. It's something I'm going to work on this winter. As for Oregon and your friend perhaps moving there too, that's just super great news. Good luck with your hunt. I wish you a wonderful, magical Christmas with your folks too. I only have my Aunt & Godmother left, she's 90 and in Pennsylvania this year. I sent her flowers, but wish I could visit. Same for my sister in CA. She lost her husband in February and I'd love to come out and see her. Perhaps next year will be it.

By beckysdad on Dec 22, 2016 at 8:20 PM

The folks are hosting Christmas this year but I'll be cooking a couple prime ribs to feed the troops. Are you ready for the holidays?Things can get so hectic this time of year.I just finished a video for the folks. Dad's memory is getting worse all the time and he no longer can conjure the wonderful things we've done over the years. I decided that he should at least know that we kids haven't forgotten anything so that's where the video comes into play. I have either video or audio from all my siblings and many of the grandkids telling stories of things we've either done with the folks or lessons we learned from them. If I had just the audio I put together slideshows of family photos to support the stories. I burned a dvd so the folks can watch it anytime. How's the work situation? There were budget concerns last time we traded messages. Have you had any luck getting more of your art into galleries? The Oregon real estate hunt remains an intellectual exercise. I'm learning more about the markets up there and the various neighborhoods. The most fun development came as a result of a chat I had with my best friend. I shared my Oregon plan and explained my reasoning. I shared the links for my research with him. He's done some looking himself now. I think maybe the seed has been planted where he might move up there as well. I would love that.

Hope you and the fabulous Becky are planning something yummy for the holiday. :) How's the house hunting in Oregon been? Find anything promising? Golly, it feels like forever since I've been on to chat.

Merry Christmas to you, too.

Oregon is gorgeous...so green and lush. I've spent a number of vacations up there and I've always loved it. The area I'm targeting gets twice as much rain as we do in San Jose. I Don't think that will be a problem for me but I've heard that it drove others nuts. The Willamette Valley is famous for their soil and growies. I enjoyed chatting with you as well. Do drop by more often. I'm sure things will work out on the work front. It's sure unsettling while they work themselves out though. Be well.

By Foxkatt on Apr 12, 2016 at 9:36 PM

Awesomeness! Now that's the way to go about it! Yay! Smart way to plan. Hey, when you've worked hard and are ready for it, you totally deserve to get all new things. No problem with that. I've often thought Oregon sounded fabulous. It's where some of my favorite plant nurseries are located. Apparently, things grow there very well. I'd love to see it in person someday. That house on a river sure was a dream place. Gorgeous. I think it's very sensible to scout it all out before actually making the move. Smart. Well my friend, it's late here and I've got to get up in the morning for work. Going to take Frankie and head for our pillows. Goodnight. It was lovely talking with you again. I'll have to make a point of dropping by more often. :) Give that sweet Becky a pet from me. Foxy

I've lived with second hand furniture all my life except for my two recliners. Even my bed is second hand. Furnishing with all new is as much about not wanting to move a bunch of stuff as anything else. This will be my last (real) move. They'll be carrying me out of this place in a pine box so I'm going to do it right. I say (real) move because I will have an apartment up there for a time. Once the folks are gone I'll rent out my place down here and grab an apartment in Oregon. I'll also buy my RV so I can work in some travel. I'll spend a year really exploring the cities I've identified and dig into the neighborhoods. I'll also want to spend a full year in the climate. I don't think I'll have a problem with it but I don't want to sell here and then find my perception of Oregon and the reality don't match up. During that year I'll alternate between travel and real estate research. Once I've spent a year and I'm convinced my fantasy and reality match I'll sell my place here and get busy with picking out a place.

Yes, that's how we've looked at it, with laughter, she's so miserable right now though, it's a small thing. Again, wishing I could be there for her. Oh, I watch those shows too. I love the reveals, but also think sometimes that the looks would not be for me. Wow, I've never had a new piece of furniture in my life...well, other than the bed which cost more than my car at the time...ha..ha. I envy you being able to go pick out all new, but also think you'd like a touch of some whimsy or art to pull it all together. One can truly do that with eclectic pieces and it looks much nicer than cookie cutter sets. I agree with the function of things, my dad was a German engineer after all. However, I admire things that work with style and give the choice would love to incorporate those into a design. Wish I lived closer. Would really like to say thank you by helping you out someday. I love nothing better than to go shopping and am very good at hitting peoples taste right on the nose. What's wrong with dogs playing poker? ;-D

By beckysdad on Apr 12, 2016 at 8:47 PM

You know, I much prefer that angle on him passing on Valentine's Day. That's more likely to cause her to smile and laugh than for it to be another twist of the knife on that anniversary. I envy people like you with an artistic flair. I have none of that. When I watch the remodel shows I relate more to the function and structural aspects of the makeover. I watch Property Brothers and Fixer Upper and show like that. When they do the big reveal I always appreciate how attractive the furniture and decorations are. I could never live with those furnishings though. I'll be buying all new furniture when I furnish the new place. Anyone that walks into my home will think "OMG what a bachelor" with an element of judgement. But the fact of the matter is that I am a bachelor and want comfy over stylish. I'm not quite dogs playing poker on the wall but it's not far from that. :)
