Hi there. I has a sad for all of Rhokit's friends here. I never got to "meet" her, but she must have been a very special person.

Yes, I've done contracts like that as well. If the dog is to be a pet I will not set a high price but insist that it be spayed/neutered. If people want a pet then they accept that easily.

I signed a contract stating that I would not get Coty's papers until I had him "fixed." Her husband was an attorney, and that contract was pretty close to air tight. Plus, Coty is handsome and all, but he is not a breeding quality dog. I wanted a pet, but with a great disposition and that's what I have. I consider myself lucky to be trusted enough to be given that furry gift.

*chuckle smile* Coty's breeder is like me except I've never bred every year! And I am really choosy about the peeps that get pups from me. There are too many out there that are in it for the money only.

I agree about temperamemt in a dog. I've been very lucky. Even the dogs I adopted or rescued had a very good disposition. But Coty's breeder is a gem! Only one litter per year, and if she did not like you, or if your references did not check out, then you did not get one of her dogs. I had to wait an additional six months before Coty was born because the breeding she had planned produced only two pups, both female, and I already had a female dog, so a male mal would have been the best fit. As hard as it was, I waited, and it was worth it! He is a character, but did very well with obedience training. I am definitely the alpha in the house. What I find funny is that Coty thinks he is the alpah male and "tolerates" my husband's belief that he and not Coty, is the alpha male. I swear, some days Hubby will say something to Coty, and Coty looks at me as if to say "Well, OK, but just because YOU want it that way." He obeys nicely, but that look always makes me want to laugh.

Buckshot? wow. Peeps really can be mean, can't they? One of my fears is that the kittens or their mom will get run over by a car; I've seen drivers actually go out of their way to hit cats with their cars , and of course I wasn't able to get the plate numbers, so just took the poor cats (or what was left) off the road and the one who was only injured to the vet... made me real mad. And the hunters round here don't mind taking potshots at anything that moves, so my kennel is fenced in 12+ feet high with concrete flooring and small-mesh, real thick, unchewable galvanised fencing - my greatest fear is that the Sibes escape.

Cas always seem to know where they will be safe. And sometimes they just seem to find a human that will help them. I'm sure the dogs help keep feral males away. I've only had one "stray" male cat come to me that was not feral, and I'm not even sure how he found me. He was a real character - a black & white long hair with extra toes, who could barely make a sound. And he seemed fine with just about every animal he came in contact with. I had him for the remainder of his life. It was only in his later years that my vet did a base-line x-ray as part of a senior wellness profile that we discovered that Fred (the kitty's name) had buckshot lodged in his body in several places. When he came to me he was fully healed. The vet told me that the buckshot could have - and would have - been removed by any vet who treated the cat, so it seems that Fred lived through quite a bit before his forever home.

Ah, the kitties! :-) I am wondering if the momma didn't choose to have them under that shed because it abuts onto the back kennels and not other cats come around my property much (probably due to the dogs) so the babies are safer from the roving feral males? who knows, cats are smart. Anyway it's on the side with the young dogs who are not as concerned about cats as some of my older ones, so that's good, too since the young dogs don't pay her much attention as she comes and goes.

Thanks for the compliments! Temperament is the main thing in a dog; it can be as beautiful as ever but if you can't live with it or trust it, then nothing is right. Sounds like you found a real pearl of a breeder with Coty, there! It's always best if you can see more of the dogs in the kennel and get an idea of how they act to strangers and children. Spock is very smart as well but Artem has educated him well, too. In the "Villow's puppy pix" file on CheezPets you can see him at 8 1/2 months - a real adolescent, but he will fill in. Everybody loves him!

Just saw your "Mothers Day" lol about the cats. They always seem to know where to find an Angel, even if she does have doggies!

I love the video of Spock! What a sweet, well-behaved boy he is. Thanks for sharing the video - it made me smile! Coty loves company and attention. He does like children and even as a "senior" aged dog, he is very tolerant and gentle with little ones. The breeder that I bought Coty from had mals of the sweetest temperament. I was able to meet Coty'd parents as well as both sets of grandparents. One of his grandfathers, CH Benchmark Captain Montague, was even memorialized in a book. Monty was one of the sweetest, most tolerant dogs ever. When I was visiting the breeder for the first time, a family with two small kids was there as well. I stayed off to the side to let them finish up their interview. Their toddler walked off and went over to Monty's run. Monty put his nose to the chain link fence and that kid grabbed Monty's whiskers - not to be bratty, but because he was just trying to pat the dog but was too little to now how. And Monty just stood there, not growling, not moving until the parents retrieved their little one and freed Monty's whiskers. That was the instant that I knew I wanted a dog from that breeder. Coty has always been a sweet dog, and very well mannered. But he's also really smart and knows how to get exactly what he wants too.

LOL, that is so funny, he must really love the kids! I am well as are the dogs but it is getting very warm here so...the fur is flying, heheh. I saw one of my pups last week, in fact I made a video about him, if you want here is the link: http://cheezpetz.webs.com/apps/videos/videos/show/13615290-villow-s-son-spock-on-tv There are also some new pix of that litter in the Villow's Puppy Pictures file. They have grown a lot... And I now have been adopted by three cats! (see lol going up now) Hope your afternoon is happy!

Thanks! I guess I was on a roll with the histies. Hope you're doing well. How are all your fur kids? My mal has been absolutely comical the last few days. In the morning we often walk while the neighborhood kids are waiting for the school bus. The last two days my husband has walked Lakota in the morning, and Coty (his nickname) has insisted on going to say hello to the kids, going right up the line from the last kid to the first. Then he sits down at the front of the line as if he wants to get on the bus and go with the kids. The kids and parents think this is hysterical, and it is close to impossible to get Coty going again. I can't figure out what is going on in that clever mind of his. But it is funny.

I understand completely. I watched the news tonight with tears in my eyes, and kept praying that everyone I know in the path of those tornadoes/storms is safe and unhurt. To see the map with all the red "pin points" was overwhelming.

Hi! I did have a lovely Easter, and hope you did as well. I'm trying to catch up with all my friends here and say hello. I've been busier than usual (not sure how I could be, because I seemed to have no extra time already) between my regular job & my art business. Hope you are well. Take care!

happy hotdog front page day!

By villow on Feb 15, 2011 at 8:42 AM

Hello MalaMom! Sorry I didn't get back on your message last night..; my server shut down for too long to stay awake and wait for - must have been maintenance. I wanted to send you the link to my Lolintine... but no connection! So here it is anyway, one day late...(but as they say, better late than never!) Hope your day was happy!

By villow on Feb 13, 2011 at 2:47 PM

We're fine, thanks. Weather's been more like late March, no snow and mud... after all that snow in Nov-Dec, now it's all your side, LOL. I had a look at your art site, you really make beautiful things! I live 90 minutes from Nancy and about the same from Longwy (Art Nouveaux; Longwy enamelware) and the same from Baccarat and St Louis (crystal regions). My village is also just outside Sarreguemines, where pottery and ceramics were long the major industry. Your work would certainly fit in well over here!
