Wherever I move, they have to take cats. It will definitely be smaller than where I'm at. Most stuff will either be tossed or donated. Maybe some stuff can be sold. By law, depending on how much she raises the rent, I'll either have 30 or 60 days before I have to pay the higher rent. That gives me SOME time to clear stuff out. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone to help me and I work. This time of year, it is almost dark by the time I get home (most stuff is in my garage). That leaves me weekends to go through it all.

I haven't got the letter yet, but I am trying to get rid of 37 years of junk my husband & I accumulated. It would be WONDERFUL to have heat again and something bigger than a toaster oven to cook in. I worry about rents though. Any where NEAR where I am living (that isn't in a "bad" area) is STILL higher than what I am paying. We are "supposed" to get a raise this year, but it is so miniscule, it won't be too much help.

After 27 years of living in the same rental house, my landlady is having spend a lot of money on repairs. She already felt we were paying too little rent for where we live (but there's been no heat for 20 years <law requires heat>, she won't replace oven or stove or dishwasher, 40 year-old carpet <ick>, needs painting inside, earthquake cracks need repairing, earthquake-broken windows need replacing - you get the idea). SO, bottom line is, she told me she is raising the rent. Since there is no rent control in my city, she can triple the rent if she wants. I can barely pay what I am paying now. So, I will have to move...

Doing ok. I can't believe it's almost been a year since my husband passed (so I'm a little sad). My sisters are sending me on a trip in a couple of months. It will be nice to get away! :)

That's a shame about the car. I've seen folks back too far when launching a boat, but it was at lakes--no tide to complicate matters. Thank you very much for telling me the story and for so kindly sharing your photos. I have an idea for a much better LOL than the first one I captioned.
