    Wolverine

    Played By: Hugh Jackman
    First Appearance: X-Men (2000)

The star and everyone's favorite X-Man, this is Wolverine's 7th appearance in an X-Men film. With his super fast healing, and adamantium claws, he's the perfect candidate for time travel.

    Storm

    Played By: Halle Berry
    First Appearance: X-Men (2000)

A longtime team member, and teacher at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Storm often plays a leadership role in the X-Men. Her ability to manipulate the weather, makes her particularly deadly in open spaces.

    Quicksilver

    Played By: Evan Peters
    First Appearance: Brand New

Much like DC Comic's The Flash, Quicksilver has been gifted with super speed, an asset Wolverine uses to plan a jailbreak.

Fun Comic Fact: He's Magneto's son! I wonder if the movies will touch on that.
Fun Fact #2: Avengers 2 will have a different incarnation of the character played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. These laws about movie rights are weird.

    Blink

    Played By: Bingbing Fan
    First Appearance: Brand New

Like fan favorite Nightcrawler, Blink has the ability to teleport herself, others and large objects. Unlike Nightcrawler, she does so by opening portals (not like the game). She can also use these portals as weapons by teleporting only half of a person or object which "shreds" them.

    Beast

Played By: Nicholas Hoult (Formerly, Kelsey Grammer)
First Appearance: X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

Beast wasn't always a blue, hairy guy. While experimenting on a way to remove his mutation, awesome strength and agility, Dr. Hank McCoy heightened his own abilities and turned himself into the Beast. In his later life, he becomes an elected politician campaigning for Mutant Rights.

It appears Nicholas Hoult will start the film without his Beast powers, but the Sentinel threat will require he transform yet again.

    Magneto

    Played By: Ian McKellen/Michael Fassbender
    First Appearance: X-Men (2000)

Magneto, aka Erik Lehnsherr, is traditionally the X-Men's main nemesis. Believing mutants to be the next step in human evolution, and fearing persecution from Homo sapiens, he is a militant leader for Mutant Rights.

His ability to control metal through magnetic manipulation makes him a powerful force. He'll have to team up with his foil Charles Xavier to stop the Sentinels.

    Professor X

    Played By: Patrick Stewart/James McAvoy
    First Appearance: X-Men (2000)

The leader of the X-Men, and powerful Telepath, Charles Xavier opened his School for Gifted Youngsters to create a safe haven for young mutants. After becoming paralyzed, Charles gave up his mutant powers to gain the use of his legs. Will he sacrifice them in order to save the world?

    Colossus

    Played By: Daniel Cudmore
    First Appearance: X2 (2003)

Colossus' metal skin makes him both strong and tough. In the comics he's a Russian immigrant, and on-again/off-again love interest of Shadowcat. In the movies, he's an under-developed character who punches things.

Colossus is at the top of my list of under-utilized X-Men characters.

    Iceman

    Played By: Shawn Ashmore
    First Appearance: X-Men (2000)

One of the X-Men's newest recruits, Iceman is a recent graduate from Xavier's School. He can use his ice manipulation to create slides, armor and projectiles. He also dated both Rogue and Shadowcat, two other former students of Xavier's School.

    Bishop

    Played By: Omar Sy
    First Appearance: Brand New

It wouldn't be a time travel X-Men story without Bishop. In the comics he came to the X-Men from a dystopian future and his cold anti-hero ways made him half ally/half enemy. His ability to absorb energy, and use the reserves to strengthen and heal himself, make him particularly difficult to hurt.

    Mystique

Played By: Jennifer Lawrence (Formerly, Rebecca Romijn)
    First Appearance: X-Men (2000)

Because of her blue skin and yellow eyes, Raven Darkholme has always been ostracized from society. Even though Her ability to transform her appearance allows her to blend into any situation, she has only ever been able to be herself around Magneto and his Brotherhood of mutants.

She is one of Xavier's oldest friends and deadliest enemies.
