DRM (digital rights management) is was what protects digital media like music and e-books from being shared and keeps it specific to you as a buyer.
Peter Purgathoffer, an associate professor at the Vienna University of Technology, built this LEGO robot that totally drop-kicks Kindle e-book DRM. It does this by mechanically pressing the "next page' button and taking a photo of each page. It then puts those pages through a digitizing process, compiling it into its own separate e-book, DRM free! The best part is that the LEGO robot is simply engaging in a transformative act (for the purpose of one's own personal use) making it completely legal!
