Stickam, the first website dedicated to hosting live-streaming video, permanently shut down yesterday after seven years of operation. Since its launch in 2005, the website became quite popular with teenagers and scene kids, some of whom went on to become internet celebrities, including GayGod and Kiki Kannibal. Though no specific reason was given for the sudden closure, the launch of other competing video-streaming services including Ustream, Livestream and YouTube Live might have led to the site's demise. The site will remain live until February 28 so users can download their content.
