EA was one of the first publishers to implement the Online Pass (a one-use code required for online play) but now they are doing away with them.
EA senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg confirmed to VentureBeat in an e-mail. "None of our new EA titles will include that feature."
The reason? Reseburg claims it was because of consumer feedback, "Initially launched as an effort to package a full menu of online content and services, many players didn't respond to the format," Reseburg said. "We've listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward."
Does it not matter because games in the future will inevitably have always online DRM? Is this just a PR move by EA to rise consumer faith? Do you think EA is on the right track?
What do you ultimately think about EA's decision?
