For the last six years, Zhang Biqing, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner who runs a national chain of acupuncture clinics, spent quite a bit of his time secretly building a stone fortress inside a sculpted mountain rooftop garden atop a 26-story residential building in Beijing. But now, Zhang's secret fortress is hanging in peril as the local authorities have finally ordered him to knock it all down, citing concerns of damage to the building's structural integrity. Yet despite the city's ultimatum and neighbors' complaints, Zhang apparently doesn't see what all the fuss is about, referring to the structure as "just an ornamental garden."
