Here we thought gamefreak's creepy days were over, the pokemon Orroto appears to be a haunted tree, this seems to be a reference to the The Aokigahara Forest which lies at the base of Mt. Fuji and is where many suicidal people go to kill themselves usually by hanging themselves on the trees, the forest is said to be haunted by the yūrei, evil spirits. This may seem a stretch to some people but if you think about the fact that the name of the keeper of the pokemon graveyard and tower in lavender town is Mr. Fuji it doesn't seem so strange. I thought about this association after watching this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FDSdg… Watch it if you want to learn more, it is actually a very interesting video. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK about this, because I don't know why but I really feel like that is what this pokemon is based off of. More Information Below: The Aokigahara Forest is the most popular site for suicides in Japan. After the novel Kuroi Jukai was published, in which a young lover commits suicide in the forest, people started taking their own lives there at a rate of 50 to 100 deaths a year. The site holds so many bodies that the Yakuza pays homeless people to sneak into the forest and rob the corpses. The authorities sweep for bodies only on an annual basis, as the forest sits at the base of Mt. Fuji and is too dense to patrol more frequently.
