Move over, “Man,” because dogs have found a new best friend, and it’s polar bears.
Yup, in spite of everything happening to polar bears right now, such as losing their homes and attempting to jump from one melting ice sheet to the next, this polar bear took time out of its busy schedule to comfort a dog.
Putting aside their differences for even just a few moments, this polar bear and dog, who we will now refer to as “The Power Friends,” sat and enjoyed each other’s company in Northern Manitoba, Canada last weekend. Local hero David De Meulles caught the whole exchange on his phone.
"I had no idea what was going to happen, and then sure enough he started petting that dog, acted like he was a friend," David De Meulles said. "I just so happen to catch a video of a lifetime."
"It was a beautiful sight to see, and I just can't believe an animal that big would show that kind of heart toward another animal."
There’s a lot we can take away from this monstrous beast repressing instinctual its urge to kill long enough to take in the natural beauty and splendor of another living creature. Even if it’s unable to put together rational thoughts or express its feelings orally, on some level this polar bear thought, “I fear not this small creature but understand it has wants and desires like me.” So to the dog must think, “This is my friend, and I want to play with my friend.”
And play they did.
Run free, “Power Friends.” Run free and may we all learn from your connection
