A six-year-old Australian shepherd named Sausage is being credited for saving the life of three puppies that were discovered inside a garbage bag in Pleasant Hill, California. The tiny terrier mix puppies were discovered Monday evening after Sausage began sniffing around a black garbage bag near a trashcan in Paso Nogal Park. Curious, the dog's owners went to check the bag, which had been tied in a knot at the top, and found the five-week-old pups inside. "They saw movement in the bag and that was enough for them to open the bag," says the deputy director. "Someone had tossed them there and left them to suffer a pretty cruel death."
