Flea, you know from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has made quite a varied career out playing a mean bass.
Besides his musical talents, he's mostly settled for appearing in 35 movies over the years. His recognizable gapped grin can be found in everything from The Big Lebowski to Back to the Future Part II
But now he has something else to do with his spare time — be a beekeeper.
The bassist has started keeping hives with over 200,000 of the cool little insects makin' honey and having a good time.
Rolling Stone explains this newfound hobby:
Flea's passion for beekeeping is twofold: In addition to his unabashed "love" for the insect – "Pleezus more beezus" and "Me about to get busy with my beautiful little bees that I love," he wrote in June – the bassist's environmental concerns also inspired him to cultivate an apiary of "Flea's bees." The honeybee population has steadily and staggeringly decreased over the past few decades, a decline known as the Colony Collapse Disorder, threatening a food chain that relies on the bugs to pollinate plant life.
He's documented his enthusiasm all over his social media pages.
Deep to the hive super organism. I love my bees. Flea's bees
