Religious Freedom of the Day: A Woman Wore a Colander in Her Driver's License Photo to Express Her Pastafarian Beliefs
This Massachusetts woman was initially denied her license when she wore a strainer on her head for the picture. Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles only allows hats or head coverings for religious reasons. Following an appeal, she was granted the right to wear the colander in her picture. She says it helps her express her beliefs in accordance with the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
