Joe Manganiello talked about the upcoming movie "The Batman" in a podcast with Mark Madden. Manganiello, who plays Slade Wilson in movie, had some news as to why we should be excited.
"His take is a fresh take but I think the audience is going to be surprised. Because it's a road that no one's really gone down that's completely integral to, you know, who Batman is. And I think it's gonna be refreshing but at the same time completely familiar. But it's going to take this franchise in a direction that I think A LOT of people are going to be really happy about."
The largest complaint with recent iterations of Batman have been their lack of detective elements or and critique on their action segments. Personally we feel that Batman Begins was the closest a film has gotten to getting Batman's style of fighting correct. But that statement of a "new road" seems to reinforce the theory that Affleck, a huge fan of dramatic noir, is taking Batman back to his detective roots. Which means that the movie might follow in the same vein of the Arkham Asylum game series, and even take place in a live action form of that universe.
If that's the case, count us in. We'd love to see the gritty world of that series come to life.
He went on to say that, "It's going to be gritty and action packed and cerebral and all of those elements that people love about Batman...everything is lined up for a really really really great movie. Not only a superhero movie but just a great great movie."
Given DC's recent track record we'll hold our breath, but we have faith in Affleck to deliver a stellar film.
