Yeah, ya sure don't want to go walking after dark, black belt or not. Tho I've gotta say, a black belt at 48 is sure impressive!

You're most welcome, but don't worry about repaying me. =) Hope your doing ok up there in MO. I'm sure it's just as hot there as it is here. Pleh!

I made it last Friday. Never even saw it on the voting pages over the weekend. I guess ya just never know!

Thanks lc! I've got out-of-town company and haven't been on for a day or so - maybe I should stay away more often! LOL!

I do remember seeing that! Plus they had a big article in the paper about the hotel and it's history. I think it was a hospital at one time, if I recall. And something else, maybe a girls school. Not sure. Anyhoo, they talked about the cat & ghosts and everything and I thought, I have GOT to stay there sometime! I'd luv to see a ghost, too. I'd probably jus stand there with my mouth hanging open. And nobody else would be around to see it with me, so of course they'd think I'd left the planet! Hubs already does! Hah! Well, I hate to break this up but I have GOT to go to bed. Cleaned house all day and I'm absolutely pooped. We'll have to continue this, tho! It's great chatting with ya!

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that! It IS like a shrine! The rooms were pretty neat, small with really tall ceilings like they used to make them way back when. It was kinda like sleeping in a giant box! The gardens were really gorgeous, too. The only bummer was no ghost. How am I ever going to believe in them if I never get to see one?!! lol!

True true. It's such a cool place to live that when things improve, new quality folks will come to take the place of those who left. We did stay at the Crescent Hotel that last trip, but didn't get to see any ghosts! Naturally the 'ghost' rooms were already taken. Darn! lol!

Boy, it does suck! There were alot of really good artists & artisans there. I suppose they can still sell on line and hit the better crafts fairs, but still. You know they're really hurting. Some have probably had to move. I wonder if it'll ever be the same.

A bunch of old hippies for sure! Must be why I like the place! lol! I tell ya tho, last time we were there, we'd taken some friends canoing on the Buffalo, drove in late afternoon and didn't get cleaned up for dinner until almost 9:00, and lo and behold every restaurant was closed already! And this was a Friday nite! We did manage to talk one place into staying open by telling them we'd eat fast and leave a big tip, but geez! We were kinda shocked! It's great that your family still lives there - were you born there?

Hi Fauxpaws! yeah,I've been to War Eagle, and Fayetteville,my parents and grandparents live in Eureka,I've watched it grow up from the little hick town that rolled up it's sidewalks at 5p.m.to what it is now, though sadly the recession has hit them hard.It was full of hippies in the 60's and now they are the town elders, which may help to explain why it's so funky.I come down sometimes its a 4 hour drive, love to get back soon, but have to wait and see if I can find a job.

Hey lc! I live in Little Rock, but had a sister up in Fayetteville for a long time and used to go up that way alot. We'd try to hit the War Eagle Arts and Crafts Fair every Fall. Have you heard of it? Love Eureka Springs, too! What a funky little town! I guess Independence is way up near Kansas City, if I recall. Do you ever get down this way?
