Just took a look at a Taurus 1911. It was actually pretty nice. Fit and finish seemed to be good, slick slide, nice heft to it. Under 700 bones. Still a fair chunka change, though.
Hey Holdin. I got my first 1911 in 1980. A Colt Gold Cup. Followed that with an Officers ACP. I'm just so partial to the "tried and true" design, the simplicity of something that works so well with so few parts...and I have some very tasty handloads I've worked up with a 200 gr. Hornady "flying ashcan" at about 1200 fps. I am fairly well infatuated with the .45. I've never owned one of the "new-fangled" DAs. I'm just diggin' that 3 lbs, no creep, crisp as a fresh saltine SA.
You would get along great for quite a long time just talking guns with my Dad and my son. Those two are avid enjoyers and collectors and go shooting every weekend. Dad even had, at one time, a WWI? WWII or Confederate bolt action something or other that was still in the packing gel... That wouldn't be Confederate..All I have is a Rossi .38 revolver. CELL PHONE IN THE HANDLE!?!! What if the gun should go off while you're talking to someone!?!! If you're in the middle of a shoot out and someone calls do you ANSWER IT!?!! yes.. I think I'm funny.
Thanks for being mah cheezie frend. My son could tell me what gun that is in your profile pic but I'm a revolver woman so.. It looks like any of the Glock,Taurus, automatics my son has. I had one once and it jammed alla time.. eons ago and my son tried to give me a lecture on automatic wonderfulness but I blocked him out.. closed mind and all.
Hey Holdin', thanks for accepting my friend request. I like your moniker and avatar. I'm a 1911 guy myself, but to each his own, I say. If it shoots, I like it.
Some pansy posted a photo of a kneeling soldier, and then made remarks about only serving weekends and two-week stints; but I changed the photo to a poster, and supplied additional info. Please check it out!
