I had a similar experience trying to save a neighbors kitty. Turned out the poor thing had FelineParvo, very rare. To no good end, my roomie and I bottle fed this baby for 4 days and nights. The vet really couldn't understand why the other kitties in the litter didn't get it as it is location-specific. Anyhow, I understand the stress. Bless you!

It's so very nice to meet you, mamawalker. :) How cool, to get to bottle feed a baby Ocelot -- what an amazing experience! I do have a litter of bottle babies (though they are thankfully all on solid food now) but will go back to litters I don't have to bottle-feed after this. It has been rewarding, but very, very stressful and time-consuming. We lost one of the babies early on and that was devastating. It turned out all three of the members of her litter died, so we think they had some sort of genetic problem that would not allow them to survive. Very sad, but I am happy to report the other 7 babies (from 3 litters) are THRIVING. =D You're welcome on the faves, too. I love your stuff!

Ohai MA!! I read in your profile that you foster bottle babies. I worked in a Pet Shop/Boarding Kennel/Grooming Shop at Lake Tahoe in the sixties before California had their Wild Animal Act. I got to bottle-foster an ocelot kitteh once and can testify as to how much work it is. I took care of him AND a 2-yr-old African Lion cub at the same time! It was a lot of work but freaking awesome! Pleased to meet you and thanks for faving so many of my lols!! lubznbonx, GMamaW
