Thanks goodness, we rec'd much less snow & wind than predicted. As you could tell by a lot of my pics from the previous 2 winters, we can have a pretty rough hit of both. It stayed over the top of the back door, and the windows on 2 sided of the residence during a lot of those winters! As Hubby says, when you look on a USA map, we're the highest elevation as you move east from the Rockies, so we really get a lot of wind - even when other parts of our area don't. It still blows & drifts enough to be hard to measure accurately. Hubby est. on his walk through the campground today (w. his Beagle mix, Rocky) that the total was abt. 7+ inches. That's a whole lot better than the 20+ inches that was possible w. the Friday & Sat. forecasts. However, like Europe & a lot of North America, the temps have really dropped. 12 deg. F at noon, but -4 deg. chill factor. Avg. Feb 12th temp. is 21 deg. F. Water here in the residence has frozen, but not at the personnel cabin, so we'll deal w. it tomorrow.

Hey guys :) Just a quick message to let you know that I'm spending a little time at my parents' house to help me clear my head of all the worries and stresses that have been building up on me for the past few weeks or so. My flatmate (the one who isn't well) is in better form now thanks to a break home, and I hope to be without the stresses when I get back as they seem to be what's making me get the attacks of sudden tiredness lately: Lol therapy is brilliant for averting them though ;) Hugz Andie

This is the quickest way that I know to get msgs out to CFs. If, for the next couple of days, I don't answer your msgs/req I just wanted to let you know that all is ok, except for utilities. Hubby just told me to check on our NWS site. We have a Winter Weather Warning Storm headed here in a couple of hours. ( I should have known from our MT & WY kids as well as my CFs to the north & west of us inc. Canada.) Our area's forecast may be seen at the website below. (Snowhoe Mtn - really Cheat Mountain - and Silver Creek Ski Resorts are partially in Pocahontas Co. & partially in Randolph Co., WV) So, we're heading into town to get extra food, meds, pet foods, lamp oil, batteries, needed propane for campstoves, etc. Then will put extra firewood next to the personnel cabin door, draw extra water (no elec = no pumped well water), and so on. The residence has all electric heat - go figure, out here in the boonies - therefore, no power, no heat. At least the personnel cabin has 2 propane heating stoves & a safely rebuilt fireplace. It started snowing just as I was typing this, so I'm off to begin writing lists. I can no longer support a list of 20. Although I have a lot of most things, others are down to 15, 17 and 18. I will finish all the ones I can. Ohai eberybuddy! GumbieKat is a very nice Lady relatively new to ICHC, who is struggling to fill her collectibles. She needs more friends to help with the relaying! Lets not let this good person down, Lets show her what Cheezland peeps can do!... oh, wow! gotta go, there is a snowmobile parade down Main St.! gotta love small town life in the North Country!
