UPDATE re:photos. I CAN "import" everything from the memory card to my computer via my 3-in-one. I just did it. Now the problem is the images are enormous...avg about 1.25KB. AAAACKKKK! I think I need to find a tutorial or something to help me reduce the size of these things. BUT I am thrilled at some of the pix I took of 2 baby hummingbirds ... very sharp and clear.... Whoooopieee!

Ai did pop the memory card out, and slid it into my printer/scanner, printed one photo that I took while I was cat-sitting ... and made a LOL out of it. Mr Duncan is SO handsome; he moves like Fred Astaire in his prime. I think you'll have to go to "My Lolz" to see it...I captioned it with the opening bars of "Top Hat, White Tie, and Tails." In the meantime, back at the ranch, the friend who gave me the camera just emailed me and said she found the USB cable that goes with it, and is putting it in the mail. So...after all these years, I'm back in business! Oh! I forgot! The house where I was staying has a tiny hummingbird nest with two babies in it right outside the den window...about 2 ft from the glass. I took a ton of pics of them...never did see the mother bird, but that might have been my faulty vision. Gotta check all the pics when I get the cable, and can see them on my monitor. Wheee! I'm excited!

I think I would have to get a cqard reader attachment for my PC...UNLESS the card reader on my 3-in-1 printer will do it. Gotta see, But not now. I'm working on a job for the Pet Press, and I have to proof and correct it, and email it by midnight tonight (Sunday). I'm gonna put a note in my profile...I will be cat-sitting all this week, and won't have access to a computer the whole time. So I'll be outta touch till Friday. Thanks for the suggestion, and I WILL try the printer card reader. Ta!

sometimes, it's just as fast and easy to pop the memory card out of the camera and into a card reader for the PC; this is advice that I follow, myself. in any case, it'll be good to see Pumpkin!

Pictures...o, wow. I was given my very first digital camera just last week (used 3-year-old Canon with a gazillion bells & whistles); I'm practicing snappy-shots, but I don't know how to hook it up to the 'puter...yet. My 'puter is almost 6 years old w/Windoze XP, and I don't think it came with any photography software pre-installed. The camera manual says to "insert CD" and install the driver before connecting the camera ... no have teh CD, and I'm not about to look a gift camera in the lens and ask for it. I suppose the thing to do is go to the Canon web site and see if I can download the software, OR maybe the downloading process will tell me if I already have it on board. And how to use it. Heh. I'm not really a techno-type person; I'm still driving a 1979 car...turn the key, put it in gear, and go. I have driven a coupla cars with all kinds of computer chips, and icons all over the dash. DO NOT WANT! They make me nervy-us cuz I don't know what most of them mean. I want my dials and gauges! Wish I'd hung onto the '61 TR-3A I drove for 20+ years...so simple! I loved driving a 4-on-the-floor with a clutch! But after about 1985 I couldn't find any mechanics around here who knew how to service it. Ah, it's late, and I'm going into my "Crabby, Babbling Maxine Mode." I promise I will take pix of my Pumpkin when he gets here, and feels comfortable with us. I don't want to greet him at the door with the camera beeping, buzzing, and flashing bright lights in his little face. (I have taken reams of cat & dog pix without using any flash, but that was with a 35mm SLR camera, with a wider-than-normal aperture, and the fastest small-grain film I could buy. Got some great shots...from years and years of pet-sitting. Many sweet Mem'reeees!) G'nit, my Cheezfren. Fangkew 4 teh glasses, pills, and especially for your interest in the Pumpkin Saga. You, BBJack, and Pixie(?) have been wonderfully supportive, and I appreciate it more than I can express. The past 3 weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster, and I'm getting to old for that kinda stuff. Bueno Snowshoes! {{{RA_BH}}}

About Pumpkin...long story. Kinda. Once upon a time, I worked weekends at one of the very first cats-only boarding facilities, called the Cat Hotel, for TEN YEARS!... from the time it first opened in 1995 until the night in late 2005 when my sciatica got so bad I could barely walk . I hated to quit; it was one of the great joys of my life to work my rear end off taking care of all the guests in such elegant surroundings. By the time I finally had my lower spine fixed, the Hotel had been sold, and the new owner was too stupid to figure out that cleanliness IS catliness, plus she let a dipsh*t air-head live there AND bring in a lot of feral cats that she'd "rescued." Hoarding. Ugly situation. The City raided the place 2/1 and closed it. Permanently. Breaks my heart. Srsly. So. Pumpkin. He was a resident cat, a "legacy" whose human had found a feral mother cat and her litter when the kittens were about 2 weeks old (he's got to be 10 or 11 now...long time...), and brought them in and helped us find homes for the rest of the litter, but Pumpkin was too "people shy." Never found a home, so she made provisions (and paid) for him to live at the Hotel for as long as he lived. (The mother was even more feral..Best Friends accepted her at their sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.) I always loved the little guy...and he got friendly enough to let me pet him, but he has never been cuddly. At that time I had 2 cats who hated each other, so I didn't think a 3rd would be welcome. When I learned that the place had been shut down, after I stopped crying, I started asking what had happened to Mr. Pumpkin. I was freaking that he might have been taken to the city shelter, and....you know... It took two weeks, but I finally found out that the owner of the now-defunct Hotel had shipped him and a couple of other cats to her mother's cattery in Northern CA. She has offered to drive up there and get him for me in a couple of weeks when the roads up there aren't so iffy. I'm just so bloody happy, and relieved, that he's okay, and everyone else is happy that I want to give him a home. I've been catless since last April, and hating every minute of it. So now, I'm dragging out the cat "furniture," and cleaning-cleaning-cleaning. And waiting. And that's the truththththth. ;>)

Oh fangkew 4 teh steffyscope! I love Dr. TinyCat...I gave a photo of him to the (adorable!) surgeon who repaired my spine last year...he chuckled. He liked the LOL poster of "SPINE...it's not for everybody" a lot better. But that's his specialty. Thank you for the gift again, and have a happy holiday season! E.

Thank you for the friend request, and for favoriting my "water dish" LOL. I have loved the OZ books, and other fantasy fiction, since I was a child, and for some odd reason Margaret Hamilton's Witch of the West has always been my favorite character in the film. I always felt kind of sorry for her..."Wicked" made her a much more sympathetic character, but it was SO weird! Oh, well...Happy Solstice, and other Hollerdaze, and thanks again!
