Hey TuuttiKuutamo! Congratulations to your team on winning the debate plus getting a great drade! How do you like learning Swedish? My dad took a couple Swedish classes in college so he speaks a few phrases and I know he loved learning it. My Easter was good- very low key. How was yours? How has your April been? Today my fiance and I went to a town about 20 min away called Buda as this weekend is the Weiner Dog Races! We watched daschunds run down a short track painted in a field and one of our friends' families were racing their two dogs. It was a lot of fun and pretty hilarious (there are YouTube videos if you are curious). Hope all is well!!

Hi inspiredbychaos! I don't mind the delay, since I've been terribly busy myself too. You asked about the English class: I'm proud to tell you that my team won the debate and we also got best possible marks from the course. In the end I really enjoyed the classes, since the debates were great fun to watch. At the moment I'm having Swedish classes: it's the second official language in Finland, but oddly most Finns don't speak it very well. Glad to hear you taken part in the local shelter action. I'm sure the goggies are very happy to have you walk them and I know how important good pictures are when trying to find new homes for animals. Keep up the good work, I hope you're having a fun Easter (or a great weekend, if you don't celebrate Easter) :)

Hey TuuttiKuutamo! Sorry for the delay in responding! School has been very busy but now I'm on spring break. Just staying around home and relaxing. I also started volunteering with an animal rescue group near my house-- I walk dogs in their shelters and also take pictures of their cats and dogs so people can see them online and adopt them. :) Glad to hear the gingerbread house tasted as good as it looked! Hope you have had a great few weeks! What have you been up to? How is the English class going? Debating is a great skill, I used to do it in high school. The competitive nature of it is definitely tricky especially when you are first learning how to do it. That's awesome you are doing it in a second language. Hope all is well with you and your kitteh.

Hi! Thanks for the kind words! I liked the gingerbread house myself too and yes, it also tasted yummy :) Glad to hear you're pleased with your summer internship. The position sounds challenging, but I'm sure you have what it takes. At the moment I have mandatory english classes which are focused on debating. I find them quite hard, since I'm not very competitive by nature, but the practise will probably prove useful in the future. I hope you're having a relaxing weekend too :)

Hey TuuttiKuutamo! I LOVE your gingerbread house, esp the dock with the life preserver and gingerbread fish! Nice work! Hope it was delicious. :) Glad to hear your holidays were great. School starting up again definitely makes for a busy schedule! Mine started up again in the middle of January and it is going so fast already! Lots to do. Thankfully I have my summer internship lined up- I'll be doing management consulting in Dallas (Texas) and I'm excited to do it. I'm glad to have a position I want and not have to worry about recruiting any more! Sorry to hear you had to take your kitteh to the vet, but glad to hear she is healthy! Maybe she was missing the moose meat from her holiday trip? ;) Hope you are having a wonderful weekend and that school is going well!

Hi inspiredbychaos! My Christmas was lovely and the new year is off to a busy start. School started a week ago and I also had to take my kitty to the vet, since we suspected she might have an inflammation of some sort. Surprisingly, the laboratory tests stated she is completely healthy! Fortunately, she has also behaved normally after the vet visit, so maybe it was all just stress caused by travelling or something. I don't know whether you've noticed, but I uploaded a pic of this years gingerbread house: http://images.cheezburger.com/imagestore/2011/12/28/2e11c252-9ddf-4c65-a0a2-d87348535e8f.png It's not the neatest of buildings, but I certainly had fun making (and eating) it :) I hope you have a great week!

Hope you had a great Christmas and a wonderful new year so far! Moose meat and other noms sound like good incentives for your kitteh so she will behave on trips. :) I had a fun Christmas with my mom and sister and got to spend New Year's Eve with three of my close friends and our boyfriends (two of them live in California and one lives in Houston, Texas). It's been a good holiday break. Now it's back to interview prep (I have two next week and two more the following week for summer internships) and relaxing a bit before classes start again in a couple weeks. How about you?

By TuuttiKuutamo on Dec 24, 2011 at 5:48 AM

Merry Christmas and happy new year to you too! My kitteh behaves very well on trips, even though she's usually a little scared too. Luckily, there's plenty of moose meat and other noms for my kitteh here, so she's perfectly happy now :)

Yay! Glad the birthday weekend went well. That's amazing that your kitteh goes on train trips! My kittehs would make lots of noise and be angry the whole time. I bet your kitteh is happy to be able to spend the holidays with you and your parents instead of being left at home. Hope you and your family have a great Christmas and happy new year!!

By TuuttiKuutamo on Dec 22, 2011 at 12:16 AM

Hi inspiredbychaos! Thank you for your kind words. The birthday weekend went well - can't go wrong with pancakes! :) Today I'll travel to spend Christmas with my parents. It's always little exciting to go on a train trip with a kitteh, but I'm sure it'll be alright. Happy holidays to you and your family!

Hey cheezbuddy! Glad you could recharge with your long weekend and now you're all done with the big deadlines! That must feel great! Hope you and your boyfriend have fun celebrating his birthday this weekend-- I like how you are being creative and making American-style pancakes. :) My week is going well- got an extracurricular project that will present on Tuesday to finish up and also doing some interview prep. Our summer internship search starts really early in business school and I've already got a few interviews lined up for January. :) My mom is coming to visit for a few days (my sister lives near me) a week from tomorrow (Friday) and I am so excited to see her! Have a fun weekend!!

By TuuttiKuutamo on Dec 14, 2011 at 1:07 PM

Hi Cheezfriend! I'm sure you did well on finals! That lazy weekend I had was just what I needed and now I'm finally done with all my deadline-thingies. Just some basic schoolwork now until the Christmas break :) This weekend it's my boyfriends birthday and since I'm not much of a birthday cake maker, I've promised to make him some American-style pancakes :) I hope you're having a great week!

PS Thanks for the LOL Rally Driver!

Hi TuutiKuutamo! Not to worry-- school gets particularly hectic this time of year it seems! Glad to hear you get a winter break from school. That is so cool that you have been to cat sports competitions! I would much rather go to that than a pedigree cat show. I think Muppets is coming out in Europe next year... I saw something to that effect on the facebook page for the movie. If you like Muppets I would definitely recommend it! Did you have a good weekend? Sounds like you had some nice relaxing plans. :) My weekend was mostly studying since I had finals Mon and Tues. Now it's a small break before finals on Thurs and Fri but thankfully those are subjects I am strongest in. Hope you are having a great week!

By TuuttiKuutamo on Dec 2, 2011 at 7:53 AM

Hi cheezfriend! First of all, I'm sorry it has taken so long for me to answer. Things have been more than hectic with my schoolwork, but it's starting to settle now. We do get a winter break, but mine doesn't start until the 22nd of December. Thanks for linking the article on agility kittehs. I was pleased to read that there are cat agility contest in America too :) Kitty sports are a great activity for indoor cats and at least in Finland they are really one of the most laid back and fun competitions I've ever seen, since ordinary pedigree cat shows can get a little too serious at times. I checked out The Muppets on IMDb and it sounds like a really fun movie, but I'm not sure it has been released in Finland yet. This weekend I'm planning just to take it easy: watch some recorded TV-shows I missed during the week and play Fallout New Vegas. I hope you have a lovely weekend as well! :)

Hey TuuttiKuutamo! Hope you are having a great week. Thanks for the Hard Corg Corgi! I just finished my last class for the semester... time to study for finals! I have 4 of them all next week. Do you get a winter break from your studies?

By inspiredbychaos on Nov 26, 2011 at 8:56 AM

Thanks! I am very proud of my fiance. Glad to hear Drive was good! I'm looking forward to checking it out soon. Also pleased to hear you enjoyed Source Code since it was me who recommended it earlier this year. It's a well-done film and packs a lot into its short running time! :) Thanks for the leftover turkey sandwich... nom nom nom. I've spent the past few days in Dallas (3 hrs away from Austin, still in Texas) with my fiance's family for Thanksgiving. It's been nice to have some extra time off to relax. I've still had some studying to do, but we did go see The Muppets, which I really loved. Looking forward to seeing pics of your gingerbread house! Do you have any special plans this weekend? Not sure if you can see this article in Finland, but this story about cat agility contests made me think of you and your clicker trained kitteh: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/19/sports/in-feline-agility-competitions-the-biggest-obstacle-can-be-the-cat.html?pagewanted=1&ref=general&src=me

Congratulation to your fiance! The Southern-American restaurant sounds like a great place for a celebration :) The movie we went to see was Drive - I just loved the 80's style music and lay-out in that film. A week before we watched Source Code. I don't know if I remember correctly, but I think you were the one who recommended that film to me in the first place. Thanks for that, it was great :) I try to remember to take a picture of my gingerbread house this christmas and upload it for Cheezpeople to see. Have a great week!

Ooh gingerbread biscuits! Yum! The star pastries sound delicious as well! I'd love to see a pic of your gingerbread house this year. :) Glad you get to spend quality time with your brother during the holidays-- late nights with a hot mulled drink and good company sounds lovely. What movie did you and your boyfriend see? Happy to hear you got a chance to relax a bit with him this weekend. My weekend was great! Productive in terms of schoolwork, and Friday night my fiance and I went to a restaurant called Moonshine that serves upscale Southern-American food (lots of fried things, grits, peppers etc) to celebrate him passing the Texas bar (he's now a licensed lawyer in TX and looking for work). :) Hope your week is going well!

By TuuttiKuutamo on Nov 13, 2011 at 9:27 AM

Whoa, for the American Christmas lights :D Your Christmas bakings were all foreign to me, had to google them and they sure did look yummy :) Gingerbread biscuits and star-shaped pastries filled with plum jam are possibly the most common things to bake for Christmas in Finland. I love gingerbreads, so building and decorating a gingerbread house is one of the highpoints of my Christmas. Late nights drinking warm mulled wine (not sure if that's the correct translation, the drink is non-alcoholic) with my big brother are the best. He's quite busy, so I only get to see him few times a year. My weekend has been good. Still lots of school work, but I managed to go to the movies with my boyfriend and that made the weekend a whole lot better :) How was your weekend?

By inspiredbychaos on Nov 12, 2011 at 10:21 AM

Hi TuuttiKuutamo! Interesting that Finns are more low-key about holiday decorating. Christmas lights outside are pretty typical here especially in neighborhoods with houses as opposed to apartments. People have to plan for a higher electric bill in December with all the lights sometimes! What are some of your favorite Christmas tradition in Finland? Americans definitely love Christmas trees and decorating them. Baking for the holidays is big for my family. My family is of Swedish/Norwegian descent so we make spritz cookies along with some more American style cookies (sugar cookies in holiday shapes, peanut butter cookies with Hershey's kisses etc). When I was younger my mom had a lefse griddle so we had that too. Hope your weekend is going great! Any fun plans?

By TuuttiKuutamo on Nov 11, 2011 at 2:31 PM

Thank you for your kind words! It's very interesting to read about your Halloween celebrations and especially about the unknown super decorator nearby :D Finns are much more "low-key" and decorate their yards and houses very rarely. Even in Christmas season it's usually just some lights in the frontyard and a christmas tree in the living room. I hope you have a lovely weekend!

By inspiredbychaos on Nov 8, 2011 at 6:30 AM

Aw good luck with your schoolwork! Glad you had a chance to take a break and celebrate Halloween. :) Interesting that it is more unusual to celebrate it in Finland. Here it is a big holiday especially for kids! My Halloween was good-- spent the Saturday beforehand (the big party day) with my fiance's family and we had fun. There was a house near our condo that was SUPER decorated for Halloween-- think someone who went overboard with Christmas decorations and lights outside except it was all Halloween themed! It was funny. Hope your week is off to a great start!

By TuuttiKuutamo on Nov 7, 2011 at 10:23 AM

Thanks for the Dr. Gusta! I've been terribly busy lately and only visiting cheezburger briefly :/ On 31st I went to a Halloween party, which was really fun, but after that I've had extremely way too much schoolwork to do. In Finland it's almost a bit unusual to celebrate Halloween, but I'm guessing that's not the case in the USA. How was your Halloween? I hope you have an awesome week :)

Thanks for the LOlman! Hope your week is off to a good start!

By inspiredbychaos on Oct 31, 2011 at 12:25 PM

Hahaha moose dogs barking at cows and horses! They do sound like feisty animals- probably have to keep an eye on them so they don't get into too much trouble! :) Hope you had a great weekend! Mine was nice and long- got to spend some time learning a new card game called Dominion which was very fun and also got caught up on most of my schoolwork. Have a good week my friend!

By TuuttiKuutamo on Oct 28, 2011 at 7:03 AM

Hee- moose ranch, that's a wild idea :D I've heard a few stories about moose dogs getting a bit lost at what they're doing and then they just go bark at grazing cows or horses... The most common "mistake" for hunting dogs in Finland is to go bark at raccoon dogs. They are really feisty animals and will definitely start a fight with dogs much bigger than themselves. Thanks for the Lol scream, it completed my set! I hope you have a lovely weekend too, you've deserved it :)

By inspiredbychaos on Oct 27, 2011 at 1:46 PM

Oh no! So sorry to hear about your bike. I really don't know why someone would slash your tires-- it's so pointless and mean. It must have been fun to watch your kitteh this weekend with all the birds! Sounds like she loved the migrating birds. I don't think there are any moose in Austin unless someone has one on a ranch (like the prey animals at my fiance's mom's cousin's ranch). They are not native to here at all! My week has been good- we have a bit of a fall break and only had class Monday and Tuesday this week-- it's good to have some time to relax and catch up on things. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!! :)

By TuuttiKuutamo on Oct 24, 2011 at 1:27 PM

Congratulations, your team sure did well! I had a rather unlucky weekend: someone slashed the tires from my bike right in front of our house during sunday night. On the other hand, my kitteh did have a great weekend. Birds are migrating and everytime the birdies sat on our windowsill - POUNCE! :D The heavy coat of a moose dog might really be a problem in warmer climate. And even more importantly are there even any moose in Austin? :D Have a good week!

By inspiredbychaos on Oct 24, 2011 at 12:13 PM

Aww Norwegian moose dogs sound great! Probably wouldn't like it here in Austin though since it is so hot in the summer and it generally stays above freezing in the winter so they would not have much use for those great fur coats! Kittehs definitely love fish and it sounds like yours is no exception! My team came in 3rd of 21 teams in the competition this weekend. Staying up all night and well into the next day was hard but worth it. :) How was your weekend?
