Was your Dad stationed at Norton AFB, by any chance? My Dad was in the Army, and that's where we went to the Doctor and did our commesary (sp?) shopping." Hi! Merry Christmas! I remember Bemis Elementary, though my time in elementary school was in the 60s. My dad was never stationed at Norton, but we took advantage of its facilities whenever we were in the area. Right now, I'm wishing I could be back there, with lots and lots of sunshine and mild temperatures. The big storm that's hitting the East Coast right now was supposed to go through here first, but it missed us--thank goodness, as we're still digging out from the one before that! I like having a white Christmas, but sheesh! I don't need 2 feet of it!
I've driven though Vacaville, though I've never spent any serious time there. When (decade is close enough--don't want to be impolite/ask about age) did you go to high school in Rialto? I actually attended 4th grade there for a month back in the late 60s--my dad was in the Air Force, and we were visiting his father because my dad was supposed to be getting a new assignment to Europe--and while we were there, we found out his orders had changed and we were all going to Guam instead. So we had to wait a month for all the paperwork and everything to catch up, and I couldn't legally be out of school for that long, so . . . we'd been in Colorado Springs before that; it was genuine culture shock to me!
