I find it much easier to just not watch American Idol or Dancing with the Stars. However, I must admit an obsession with Cops and Bait Car, if only to make sure none of my relatives has appeared on the latest episode...

Go to lulu.com and register as a user. You do not have to upload anything about your book or project unless you want to. No one else is able to access your works unless you post them for sale. You can do both print-on-demand books and e-book downloads. You will need the ability to create your documents as .pdf files, though. Regarding copyright: do not pay for a copyright "service" when you can register your own works directly with the government. Check out http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ1.pdf for all the good info.

My current novel is set in the early 60s, a bit of a mystery/coming of age story using a fictional character tied into NASCAR of that era and its celebrities. Now that I have you REALLY confused, think "The Fugitive" meets "Days of Thunder" meets "Forrest Gump." I've done some Sci-Fi in the past, a lot of racing-related articles for a couple magazines, and a lot of ghostwriting that I cannot divulge.

Hiya! Stardustshimmer suggested I keep in contact with you regarding publishing and I'm cool with that. I've actually published some stuff in the past so I'm familiar with the process. BTW, there is no true need for a copyright service. You can go through the US Library of Congress if you wish, but once your work is published it establishes your copyright. The best resources / self-publishers are createspace.com (a division of Amazon.com) and lulu.com. Check those out when you get the chance. There is no need to purchase a publishing "package" when you're ready to roll; you just need to do the self-promotion. I'm always willing to talk more about it when you're ready. Cheers! -Don

I've had a history of doing a lot of projects at once, but I finally decided to devote to a single goal and turned a planned 90,000-word novel into a 138,500-word completed manuscript. Going through the editing process with a trusted friend who writes for some publications. I expect to lose about 10-15% of the bulk in edits. Remember that a good friend that supports your writing will give you serious feedback and not just like it because you're friends. Good luck!

Fun stuff you've created there. I also wanted to establish a friend status as you are also a writer. Awesome!
