What a way to celebrate 27 years of marriage, dude! After all that time, you'd think a husband - even one who insists on living "his own life" in a marriage - would have the decency to celebrate his anniversary dinner with his wife. But after reading countless stories of messy marriages, we should all know at this point that human decency is not always a thing.
This thread was posted on Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit by u/boston_9726, who opened up about her - to put it generously -complicated marriage. Essentially, instead of wishing his wife a happy anniversary and making plans to spend the night with her, Husband Of The Year decided it was better to go to a friend's restaurant with his buddies. When he came home at 10 pm bragging about what a great time he had, he was surprised that his wife was, I don't know, hurt.
Our main takeaway here is that this guy needs a frank conversation about what marriage actually is. Sure, everyone needs their personal space, but in marrying someone, you kind of are committing to sharing your life with that person, not living your own. You'd think this wouldn't be a wild concept for someone to have to digest 27 years into their marriage, but I guess people who are that self-involved live in their own little reality
