We, as people who love all cats equally, who spend our whole days writing about all kinds of cats and giving love and appreciation to as many cats as we can, sometimes forget that this kind of equal love giving is not true for everyone. It's very obvious, if you just look, that some cats get adopted far less than others. Like- yes, everyone loves a kitten, and normally, that's who people choose to adopt. But, what about other cats? Did you know that gorgeous and pawmazing black cats get adopted far less that any other at shelters? And what about purrfect blind cats or three-legged cat beauties or the very distinguished senior cats? Those get adopted far less often either.
Those are the cats that "no one wants", so of course, whenever we see a story about one of them getting adopted, we immediately want to give it the spotlight that it deserves - to encourage more people to do it.
This is, of course, not the first time that we have read a story about all the kittens getting adopted and the cat mom getting left behind, but it saddens us all the same. We wish that instead of leaving the poor thing in the shelter, more effort would have been made to try to get her adopted as well. Yes, it's true that people adopt senior cats less, but there are still plenty out there who would if only you really tried to find them.
We agree with some of the people in this thread - 2 year old may not be a kitten, but it also still a very, very young cat. Thank you for helping this kitty, and we so hope that your story inspires others to do the same.
