Decent yeah, but excellent? Not so much and nothing near the level that brought all these non target audience types in. Also they aren't actively trying to get rid of your favorite character like they seem to be with Applejack. There's no way a new gen could be better than 4 was. Not a damn chance. I'll watch it and try to be as fair as I can, but I just can't see it.
By Brony4lyfe on Jan 31, 2018 at 9:49 PM
I'll remain optimistic about the new gen until I can make a proper judgement on it. After all, only the first couple of seasons were influenced by Faust and I feel as if a lot of the episodes were still decent afterwards. It's just going to be hard seeing characters we've enjoyed for so long being replaced both in design and voice talent. One can only hope that it remains top quality instead of going too far off the rails in need of wanting to sell more toys. If so, great...and if not, I'll see how many Tide pods I can swallow before a portal to Equestria appears. Haha.
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Jan 18, 2018 at 10:27 AM
Imma be super pissed if they do pull that. I'm somewhat sure that 8 was confirmed 26 eps already. Hell I think all the synopses leaked already. And if 9 is only half that every episode better wrap up something important in a glorious fashion. I can't see myself enjoying a new version. I'll give it a shot but the vibe I'm getting from the concepts is that it's gonna regress back to old gen styles of flashy shiny stupidity. Without someone like Faust to lead and to try and run it by committee, I just don't see it working.
By Brony4lyfe on Jan 17, 2018 at 7:37 AM
The corporate bean counters is exactly why I wouldn't put half seasons off the list of possibilities just yet. I mean, why pay for more episodes when you can just use what you got and call it a day while you work on the next thing that will make some revenue? Take that whole "Rainbow Power" thing they pulled for one episode and we haven't seen or heard anything about it since. It was just a way to try and sell some toys that were slightly altered. As for the new gen coming up, I'll be more than happy to give it a try. Who knows...it might actually be good and pull me in like FiM did. We'll just have to wait and see.
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Jan 16, 2018 at 8:46 AM
I seriously doubt we'll see anymore half seasons like season 3. Either way from what I've seen of these gen 5 concepts and info, I'm probably not gonna be interested. I looks like it's gonna be run by a bunch of corporate bean counters only concerned about numbers and marketing. No way in hell is it gonna have the same level of magic and genuine heart that Gen 4 has.
By Brony4lyfe on Jan 16, 2018 at 7:03 AM
As I've said, I'll believe it when I see it. They could very well pull a season 3 on us and have 13 episodes for 8 and 9. "Oh no, thirteen episodes is totally a season guys." they'll say as they work furiously on the next gen stories and designs.
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Jan 16, 2018 at 12:21 AM
I've heard we've got season 8 amd 9 left.
By Brony4lyfe on Dec 12, 2016 at 8:29 AM
Indeed, you never know, maybe the new writers were just in a hurry to write this last season and the upcoming season will be better because they had more time to write. It may just be a shot in the dark, but it's something, right? Enjoy your time in the spoiler bunker. I personally stopped caring about spoilers a long time ago, but only because I tend to forget them shortly afterwards anyways, heh heh. That and I was a part of the biggest spoiler leak ever since I watched Star Wars eps 4 through 6 and found out that Darth Vader was actually Anakin Skywalker decades before I should have! D: Many would claim that Jar Jar ruined the prequels, but I think it's just that lack of mystery due to that HUGE spoiler!!
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Dec 9, 2016 at 8:27 PM
Yeah, I'm way to entrenched to stop watching. I just need to balance my expectations a bit. I'm not gonna say lower because they're still an entire staff working hard to produce it. But having them where they were when I began and didn't know what to expect would be great. As for DBC I know he was just scouting things out and still needs to catch up on the show, but the site failing to run could easily affect his decision negatively. I most likely will be unavailable until Sunday the 18th. SW Rogue One Premieres tomorrow it sounds like and I need to scramble into my spoiler bunker.
By Brony4lyfe on Dec 9, 2016 at 2:43 PM
Yeah, most shows do go down that road, unfortunately. You just kind of stick around in hopes that they realize what they are doing and return to doing what made it great in the first place. Futurama was a great show indeed. It helped that they had so many staff with experience from The Simpsons though. I still remember watching The Simpsons when they were just a cartoon short on The Tracy Ullman Show. XD I think DBC was just testing the waters and not actually returning just yet if at all. He pretty much stated it in a message to me about it in fact.

Usually for me, when a show gets into that pandering phase is when I lose interest I liked the mild references, they were subtle. The overt references are not what I watched for. I want to see what stories the writers wanted to tell, not the bean counters checking off boxes in a formula. It's not a problem specific to Pony mind you, all shows reach that point. There are only so many tales to tell that remain strong. One of my other favorite shows, Futurama managed 10 full seasons and I can't think of a single bad episode. They also gave it a solid finale, something I wish more shows had. I hate shows drag out until I'm glad when it finally ends. No show can last forever, but I feel it get harder for mlp to have that strong finish the longer it lingers. I feel bad that Deathbycupcakes came back right as spot took the biggest dump of the whole year. While it's annoying cheez "sold out" it sounds like it was either that, or cease to exist.
By Brony4lyfe on Dec 6, 2016 at 7:31 PM
My main thing with irl conversations is that my mind will just go blank on what to talk about. I'm also worried about saying the wrong thing to someone, especially these days when so many people get offended over nothing. I'd really just rather not be dragged into that type of drama. I think the brony community has a little bit of blame in that attitude towards the show though. I mean, it started as a show for kids and maybe a few parents would watch too, so let's throw some mild references in for them, right? Then the bronies started watching, making fan content and such, and showing them that they managed to hit a demographic that they hadn't expected to hit. So then they made adjustments to try and keep that demographic interested, hence the constant need for even more references added. At least, that's my theory on what happened to the show, but you're right, I do still enjoy some of the new episodes as well. As for cheez, it just hasn't been the same since they sold out. Maybe someday this new company will get it's act together and try to make it user friendly again, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Dec 6, 2016 at 1:26 AM
Yeah I'm only talkative to people I've known forever. I don't actually know how to disengage from irl conversations, so I'll do the video game thing and just kinda walk away mid sentence sometimes. While I don't feel like the show's full heart and soul is there, I do still enjoy watching new episodes. Honestly nobody, staff or fans expected mlp to gain such a presence. I kinda wish some of the old writers had stuck around. I feel like they had a better grasp of what they wanted the show to be. All the new stuff just seems like "how do we keep making money and get people interested with somewhat forced references. As for spot, even when I was mass commenting, I still put thought into what I said. Now I have a thought and when I try and type, the keyboard lags out and becomes unresponsive. I've taken 5 minutes just to get one comment through. It's simply impractical for me to keep that up untill spot gets fixed again.
By Brony4lyfe on Dec 5, 2016 at 9:59 PM
I've watched so much animation, that there isn't a cartoon you could name that I haven't watched at one point or another. I guess I've just been really a more detail oriented viewer then. I found that I was spending a lot of each episode just scouring the backgrounds for possible meme ideas. So my enjoyment was being lessened because of that, thusly I tried to stop doing that. I don't think they really saw the show lasting this many seasons, so that's not too much of a shock. I'd be amazed if it lasts a couple more seasons to be completely honest with you. Who knows though, maybe the new writers will come up with something to give it some extra life story-wise. I got no problems talking online, but if you were to meet me irl, it would be extremely awkward silence. XD I'm like that until I get to know someone, then I can talk your ear off. Yeah, spot.im is complete unusable garbage, and that's all that needs to be said about it. Just look at this way, now you can comment with quality over quantity in mind! Heh heh. Also, are you going to get a more festive avatar? Just wondering.
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Dec 4, 2016 at 4:04 PM
I watch a ton more animation than I do live-action stuff. At least in regards to tv shows. I like the different art styles and some of the more exaggerated things that are capable in the medium. I usually follow the story first and then pick out all the little details on second or third watches. Like the first couple times watching the first episode, I never noticed Nightmare Moon's reflection in the hourglass in Twilight's Canterlot Study, as Twilight walks by it telling the legend. I loved Tara Strong as Raven in Teen Titans as well so that influences my enjoyment of the show and is also why I've been slightly annoyed with the last two seasons. I feel like She's been getting snubbed, like they made her an Alicorn but had no plan afterwards. I feel you with that outcast part. For the first few months I'd delete comments before sending them constantly because I didn't feel like they would add anything to the conversation and just annoy everybody. Then I got to a point where I felt I was responding to everyone on everything and I got so busy just responding that I wasn't even paying attention to the artwork anymore. And now once I was starting balance out a bit, spot.im won't run well enough for me to really comment at all.
By Brony4lyfe on Dec 3, 2016 at 8:09 PM
Personally, I've just always really loved art. Animated art is just a bonus for the eyes. So MLP kind of caught my attention like that, and of course the great voice acting. I've always been the type to watch something once and just pay attention to the details put into each scene instead of the story though. It's too bad you were too shy to converse with MLB until then, but I'm happy that you finally did. I've been a bit of a social outcast my entire life, so I can understand how you felt. I've only started to open up more after joining this fandom because everyone seems so nice. I still have trouble starting up conversations though, I don't want to be a bother to anyone after all. XD
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Dec 1, 2016 at 2:15 AM
I was drawn in from the moment it started. The was just this feeling of happiness and wonder about it all. I remember feeling giddy when the intro played, then laughing how ridiculous the whole situation of me watching this show was. Its the only fandom I've ever been in too. Mostly because all my other interests, Star Wars, Halo, Pokemon, Invader Zim, and such were all shared by my real world friends. I didn't have the need to discuss that stuff online because we are always doing it in person. They gave/give me shit about mlp still but they honestly don't mind that I like it.we've all known each other for over 20 years now. I was content to watch the show on my own and browse the posts here without being part of any conversations for a while. Partially because I have some nagging anxiety issues that make it hard for me to not feel like an outcast in new environments and situations. I was so afraid of being rejected by the MLB community I simply kept to myself. The thing that changed that was when the CMC got their cutie marks. It was such a big moment and I felt so restless not being able to share in that moment with anyone else. I've only ever teared up maybe 4 times related to TV and movies two of them are in MLP and the other two in Lord Of The Rings. Celestia's song in Magical Mystery Cure and Applejack telling Applebloom that their parents would be proud if they were there.
By Brony4lyfe on Nov 30, 2016 at 9:46 AM
Fluttershy is my fav, with Pinkie a close second. I had an account on cheez previous to this one for a couple months before starting this one in honor of MLB first launching. I was introduced to ponies by a few bronies showing up with ponies for avatars. I still remember asking one of them "What's with all the cartoon cats for avatars?" in fact. So one day, during a vacation from work, I was looking through Netflix, same as you, and they had the entire first season on. I was bored, so I decided to at least try and see what it was about. It took until Twilight's first interaction with Flutters to make me interested enough to sit back and watch the whole first season that very day. Fortunately, it was only about a month or so from the start of season 2, so I didn't have to wait long to see new content. Bronydom is the first and only fandom I've ever been a part of, and I have no regrets about it whatsoever. It's sad that I've seen so many friends come and go, but I'm happy that I got to know them if even for a small while. I used to comment every day, much like Bendy, but I became a bit too popular for my tastes, so now I just comment every so often. I still like to read the comment sections though, and I've gotten to know some of the newer guys because of it. Also, I remember the gif you're talking about, it got a laugh from me as well.

Yeah AJ is my favorite of the six, followed by Twilight. As for how and when I got into the fandom, Cheezburger is where I first came across it way back in 2011ish. I wasn't into it yet, I just new it existed. There was a gif of Opal slicing Sweetie Belle's hair with the caption Umad? On it that just kinda showed up one day. After that I checked MLB every so often but had no access to the actual show. Fast foward two years and at this point I'd read a few articles about Bronies and kinda new what was going on, I'd gotten home from a shitty day at work and I had had Netflix installing on my 360 while I was there. (Slow crappy internet) so I start browsing all the shows and building a list when I see MLP FiM on there. I figured why the hell not? And ended up watching all three seasons in like two weeks and then watching them all again just to try and fathom how it was possible for me to be so enamored with a tv show meant for young girls. Also my first introduction to the show was my first experience with a hiatus. The longest onevwe ever had too I believe. I spent it going through every page of MLBs archive. I hadn't yet told any friends or even made an account here yet. I never checked the comments, just the front posts.
By Brony4lyfe on Nov 28, 2016 at 12:28 PM
Excellent, you're letting your inner Fluttershy show. I'm glad you got a few days off as it seems like you could really use them. So shall we get down to the usual brony questions? I take it your favorite mane 6 is AJ, right? Also, how did you get into the fandom and when?
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Nov 27, 2016 at 4:26 PM
Oh ok yeah, I'll probably never stop having pets. I care about animals too much not to. Thanksgiving was good, needed the extra days off.
By Brony4lyfe on Nov 27, 2016 at 3:24 PM
That's why I said "Take your time to mourn". I'm not saying go out right this instant and get a new pet, that would be heartless and cold. I'm saying that over time, think about getting a new pet. It's important to have something or someone to share love with after all. Otherwise, you end up a cynical old codger who vents on tumblr-esqe type levels on the internet. XD In any case, I hope you had a good Thanksgiving, my friend.
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Nov 23, 2016 at 10:41 PM
It'll be years before I think about getting another cat. I'm pretty much in a state of yo-yoing between functioning and broken down. I get up, make a few comments on here, and by the time I start getting replies, I don't feel like talking to anyone. I'm trying to stick to routine but it's tough hell. One of my friends lost a dog a few months back and they almost immediately got a new puppy. Now he acts like he can't let it out of his site or something bad will happen. We hardly ever see him anymore. I know better than to fall into that state.
By Brony4lyfe on Nov 23, 2016 at 9:34 AM
Yes, that is a familiar feeling. Take your time to mourn the loss. Then maybe think of getting a new kitten to share your love with. I hope you have a good Thanksgiving by the way. At least you get a little time off from work in all this, right?
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Nov 19, 2016 at 8:03 PM
I'm trying. It's gonna take a lot of time. I keep expecting to see her walking around a corner or something.
By Brony4lyfe on Nov 19, 2016 at 5:55 PM
Ah man, that's awful to hear. I feel for you, I really do. Just keep in mind that she had a good life with you, and that's what matters.
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Nov 17, 2016 at 10:51 PM
Cat got worse. We're putting her down tomorrow. She's laying in front of me right now.
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Nov 17, 2016 at 2:29 AM
Sorry to hear about your Christmases being that way. Holidays shouldn't be like that for anyone. Though I know we have no control over events and circumstances most of the time and have to live with what we are given. There was a trip involved to an extent. I plan on going to South Dakota in June. It depends on some relatives though. Mainly I just like having a certain amount of savings for emergency expenses and I wasn't expecting so much all at once. It'll balance out, everything usially does.
By Brony4lyfe on Nov 17, 2016 at 2:02 AM
Wow...I'm certainly sorry to hear about all the bad luck that has befallen on you during the fall and winter seasons, my friend. Life does tend to hand out the dark times during these months, so you aren't alone by any means there. Christmas will always remain the worst holiday for me for instance, but that's a story for another time. I'm glad your dad, cat, and mechanic are doing better. I'm assuming you spent money you were saving for a trip somewhere? Because if it was just savings for gifts, I'm sure your family would understand you not being able to afford a gift given the circumstances.
By DESTRUCTIONATOR on Nov 16, 2016 at 10:45 PM
I've definitely had far too much in the last month or two. It doesn't help that this is always a bad time of year for me. Back in 2010 between September and January I lost all three of my remaining grandparents and my 12 year old dog. Each about a month apart. So now when fall rolls around I'm usually not in very high spirits anyways and things have just been going wrong one after anothet again. Truck had three issues the last of which still isn't done yet due to my mechanic getting hospitalized for something. He's fine now which is good but the truck's delayed. My dad got bit by a cat and spent a week in the hospital and now we almost lost my cat to diabetes. She's not out of the woods yet but making improvements. I've been burning through my savings trying to handle as this and it's basically screwed my entire Christmas plans.
