After this spring, I'm not so sure I want to see what summer has up it's sleeve! Today is glorious here, the leaves are exploding - after that bizarre hot spell in Late winter, we've been chilly with cold nights till yesterday, now the warmth is really encouraging all sorts of growth all at once!
By Chillydawg on May 7, 2012 at 12:06 PM
Croci were lovely this year - mebbe cuz they were up in February! Tulips were not so good and my white azaela has a yellow branch (???), but a wonderful thing happened to my weeping cherry. We put it in 10 years ago, but it never bloomed. The nursery said sometimes the graft doesn't take and it never does flower. Mom was weeding and cleaning a few weeks ago when she ran in the house yelling "You gotta come see this!". I thought there was a body in the side garden! It turns out the weeping cherry was blooming!! Not a lot of flowers, but more than one. I thought it would never happen. It's been a very bizzare spring. Can't wait for summer..

OHai! Happeh tew heer frum yoo! RL got a little intense for a while, but things are calming down now, and I'm starting serious planning for the next stage of life (like where to live for the next few years...) After a long hard winter, spring is looking up, and happeeness iz takin ober! So how are things with you? How's work going? (I'm still looking, but finally realizing there just aren't any jobs for me here in the North Woods [not being a logger, truck driver, Nurse, or prison guard...]) Your flowers must be lovely now, we're just finishing azaleas and starting violets and dandelions...

Ohai! Jus checkin' up on my old friends. Not that yer old. How about my deer friends? How ya been? New work schedule means I get no time fer interwebs, but I peek at profile once in awhile. Take care!

Aw hey! Did I tell you the house across teh street frum me is fer sale! Small ranch, near stores and downtown. Teeny tiny yard but recently landscaped. The woman who lived there while I was growing up went into the nursing home and her son was fixing it up to be a retirement home. All new stuff inside. Then he got an abcessed tooth and threw a blood clot to his brain. He was only 59. Every time I look at the house it's so sad. It needs someone cheery to live there. Lots of seasonal employment. Think about it. Marion, the next town over is a big sailing community. Oh, you may be right about the military and the dolphins. There's an Air National Guard base near there. That's where the PAVPAWS missle tracking is. HMMMMM... Oh, and my swans are sedate, mostly. We have a Swan Festival here in July and they go into hiding for the day.
By BubbaSan on Feb 14, 2012 at 6:27 PM
Absolutely! who needs work! (after all it is a four-letter word!) So you could stay home and work on the computer for ICHC! ~ Swans! how wonderful! (do they chase people? I've heard they can be feisty) ~ How sad about the dolphins - do the Coast Guard or the Navy conduct training missions in the area?or perhaps the dolphins are being infected with something... just heartbreaking - I used to be an ocean sailor, and nothing was more delightful than a visit from a pod of dolphins, such fun loving, intelligent "companions". I know a person who believes all sorts of bad things are being caused by the research facility on Plum Island (Lyme Disease for instance) ~ Do admit coyotes should not be so close to civilization, but they are so adept at adapting (I'm thinking of that famous picture of the coyote curled up on a seat in a bus somewhere) They ARE taking over! (along with the cockroaches and pigeons) ~ You paint such an attractive word picture of your home, it is making me homesick for the ocean - need that salt air again! Seriously thinking of moving Down East, (if I can find employment)
By Chillydawg on Feb 14, 2012 at 4:24 PM
Right! It's ALL MY FAULT! I should quit my job just to monitor the website so this never happens again (pleeez, I reely dun needz an exkuze..) Whenever I hear the coyotes it seems to sound more like "We're taking over the world and now we're one step closer". I haven't seen any robins or starlings yet, and the hawks come out more once the little critters start waking up and they're absent too. Seagulls aplenty. Cormorants and swans and ducks on the river downtown. And dolphins keep beaching themselves further down Cape. They say the curve of the arm of the Cape confooses dem. Although down in the Carribbean all those curvy island bits are apparently OK. So much for the experts.

oops, ai wuz wrong (again) still can't vote on the FP LOLs even after clicking on the title - you would have to favorite it, then go to your favorites and retrieve it... ai hazza hedake...
By BubbaSan on Feb 14, 2012 at 2:41 PM
Ohai! SEE what happens when you abandon ICHC?!?! - they don't LIKE to be ignored, not even for a day!... (sew teh hole frunt payge ting iz awl yoor fawlt!) I had a major confyoosed trying to figure it out, and contacted dollydally81 - who 'splained part of it to me - to find the "recaption", "see all captions" and "vote" buttons you have to click on the title of the LOL - this takes you away from the FP, but you can use the "previous" and "next' buttons to see the rest of the FP if you don't want to keep flipping back and forth... (I HATE all this)( so, PLEASE, never, ever take another day off from ICHC!) I'm hoping that they will get enough feedback to modify these changes a bit, because even when we get used to them, it will still be so awkward compared to the way it used to be... ~~~ Wow! sounds like you live in Paradise! Too bad about the coyotes, they can be dangerous, we have a pack coming right into town at night, and there is at least one dog running with them - making them lose their natural fear of humans which can be really dangerous... a young jogger was killed by a pack of them in Canada's eastern provinces (can't remember exactly where) and a friend of mine who lives on the edge of the Adirondacks knows a woman who got attacked in the hospital parking lot (good spot for it, she was lucky...) They also like to nom small dogs as well as cats - so no more midnight walkies in the woods for us - my little Bichon is like bait to them... Too bad, I actually kind of enjoy hearing them (as long as I'm safely indoors) they sound so ecstatically happy with all those wild vocalizations, like they are enjoying every moment to the max... on the other hand, the few times I've heard them while out with the dogs, it is absolutely blood-curdling (surprising how fast we can make it back onto Main St) ~~~ Have you started getting any of the spring bird migration yet? What with early flowers and all, you might get the early birds too (hope they like frozen worms)

Hi! Day off finally, work is so crazy. I'm encouraging my croci to stay underground for at least another 5 weeks or else they gonna FREEZE their bulbs off! *Snerk* I have sent many a tourist to the "tunnel entrance". I've seen the stickers around so they must still sell them - if I see one it's yours. I went to college in Central Maine and every time we went to the coast (very infrequently) I wanted to go home. Maine is beautiful, but I need the sea. Critters? We have everything. Squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, skunks, beavers, woodchucks, snakes, rabbits and birds of every flavor. And yes, coyotes. They have dens in the marsh at the end of the street and I've seen them at night wandering through the yards. In the summer you can hear them howling and hear the answering howls from further away. Eerie and creepy. I'm on a campagin to have people keep their cats indoors because cats are a coyote's favorite food. It's so sad to see all the "lost cat" posters around. Oh, and don't tell Janie, but we're waging a war on mice in the attic. I feel bad for them but they chew on the wires and they're pooping on my yarn stash box! Most disrespectful! BTW, I'm off ICHC for 1 whole day - what happened to the Homepage???? Hugs and smiles to you :)
By BubbaSan on Feb 12, 2012 at 2:14 PM
Beautiful Area! (so you'd be not far from the Cape Cod Tunnel, then... ) I had a friend in Mashpee that I used to visit; my family was originally from the area, if you go back far enough... would love to live there now, but really wouldn't want to deal with the summer traffic (you know, when the tunnel gets backed up... say, do they still sell the "tunnel pass" stickers? I'd love to have one on my car again) I do so miss the Ocean, where I am now is the furthest away from the sea I have ever been. You must get lots of birds and critters where you live - someone told me that coyotes have moved on to the Cape, any truth to that? Hope the weather stays mild for you, and those early flowers put on a show~ Hugs
By Chillydawg on Feb 12, 2012 at 12:54 PM
I'm right near the Bourne Bridge but not OVER the bridge. Have you heard of Buzzards Bay? I'm about 2 miles away from there. I can walk to Swifts Beach and if it were legal I could walk across the marsh at the end of my street, follow the river and wind up at Parkwood Beach, Burgess Point and Little Harbor. But it's illegal to disturb the marsh and the piping plovers are nesting on that side of Little Harbor and yoo cantz deesturbz dem eteer.
By BubbaSan on Feb 11, 2012 at 9:18 PM
OMG flowers in February!!! Sounds like Charleston weather! This is the most amazing winter... still wondering if March will bring the blizzards we haven't had yet... not tempted to swim (I am a cat person when it comes to water) but sure would enjoy a nice brisk sail... which side of the Cape are you on?
By Chillydawg on Feb 11, 2012 at 7:29 PM
How's the weather up there? My croci are coming up and someone else has buds on their lilac bush. We were supposed to get 6 inches and there is not one flake on the ground (NO COMPLAINTS!!) The cats were cuddly today - I don't know why, it never got below 38 degrees. Beach weather really. I might take a walk and see if I can swim out to the end of the jetty...

Hope your tribe is dong well. Harvey is having one of those "But I neeeeed yoo nooooow Mummy" days. I need a sling I can put him in so I can get stuff done. By BubbaSan on Feb 2, 2012 at 10:42 PM
60 degrees! I'm coming! actually this storm wasn't much , another couple of inches of icy snowy stuff, roads already clear; it hovered around freezing today, so no floods... not like yours anyway!
By Chillydawg on Feb 1, 2012 at 7:45 PM
You should save the spring cleaning fer spring. No lake in my yard - it all rolls downhill to the crappy neighbors behind me. NO SNOW! It rained this morning until about 10 am, then the sun came out and it got up to almost 60 degrees! Crazy, no good fer skiing, reeeeel good fer saving on the heetin' bill. Hope your slushy problem inproves.
By BubbaSan on Jan 31, 2012 at 11:26 PM
Wow!!! congratulations! I'm sorry to be so late, but I decided to get my (more than 11,000) favorites organized, and I've been lost in there! SO should have started sorting them into groups ages ago! It's going to take forever!... you had to siphon all that water?! my gosh, you must have had a lake in your yard! Have you been getting this snow? - I thought winter was finally starting, but weather says rain tomorrow - so more ice for us...
By Chillydawg on Jan 31, 2012 at 12:13 PM
I made teh 82 Club! Thanks veery mooch for all your halp and fer leading me to some great friends. BTW, the foot of water in the pool cover took 2 siphon hoses and a LOT of sucking. But iz dun nao. Whew!
By BubbaSan on Jan 28, 2012 at 4:05 PM
Ohai! sent you a pink egg from dgreenesprout,,, a foot of water! just imagine if that had been snow - you'd be buried! we didn't get all that much, there's about three inches of hard, crusty snow/ice, and mild weather for the next few days... I feel like we have been teleported south a few hundred miles, this sure hasn't been typical North Country weather!
By Chillydawg on Jan 28, 2012 at 1:45 PM
Foot of water in my pool cover, but it's not s*** so I'll take it. Sun came out and the sunset is reel purty. Hope all yer 4-footed friends are well. Harvey just jumped into the middle of Mum's earring making, so now he's in teh dawghowse ( and we don't even have one...)
By BubbaSan on Jan 27, 2012 at 12:34 PM
Not snow, not rain - its the evil slush! about three inches of the heavy wet stuff, I'm grateful I don't need to drive today, roads are messy... just shoveling the snowbank the plow left at the end of the driveway is daunting... What a crazy winter so far! Glad to hear you are getting rain instead - hope its not too much!
By Chillydawg on Jan 27, 2012 at 11:24 AM
Howdy! Are you getting snow? Cuz we're getting tons of rain, taking care of all the last patches of snow. Sleepy day fer kittehs - all dark and warm (since I'm home and the heet iz up!) Think I may find Harvey and take a nap. Unless he's havin' a "fluffy" day. Maybe I just won't rub his belly (yea, like he's gonna let me slide on THAT one..) Thx fer teh collectimablez!

By BubbaSan on Jan 25, 2012 at 9:57 PM
A foot of snow gone! wow! we haven't had to deal with that much yet... it's just all going to come at once this year, I think - we'll still be digging out while you are seeing the first crocuses!
