My major is actually Japanese itself. I'm at the University of Leeds (UK) so we do cover some modules from Asian Studies also.

Yes, my daughter has been studying on her own (practising writing and memorizing the English/Japanese dictionary) for ages, but she just started taking a formal Japanese course this fall. She would *love* to do what you are doing someday and study in Japan! I told her to read your blog to find out about some of your adventures there. Are you majoring in Asian Studies?
