I don't know whether you know the story behind my "fruitcake" love. As I grew up as an only child, the beginning of the holiday season was when my mother got out the fruitcake pans (from gift size that would fit in the palm of your hand to family size), ingredients, cheesecloth, etc. Every year, until she died in an accident in the mid-80's, Mother would begin in Oct., wrap the baked cakes in cheesecloth, place them in tins, sprinkle them w. grape wine (the only alcoholic beverage ever allowed in our home), & cover. Periodically, they were checked & re-sprinkled until gifted or cut at family holiday get-togethers. So, unlike a lot of folks, I have a taste for *good* homemade fruitcake & fond memories of baking thru gifting & eating it. Thanks for sending one my way to complete my collection - as well as refreshing my memories.

Ooops, I did miss that Keyboard Cat. If I didn't thank you then, thank you very much now. Hubby's mother has been in & out of hosp. quite a lot recently - sometimes in-patient, sometimes just ER. They live a little over an hour from us & their hospital is abt 30 min further north. We were up there ( at their home) yesterday. She's on a lot of meds & oxygen. Sometimes I just check in to ICHC during the night when I can't sleep. Thanks again & I've written your name & collectible needs down on a post-it note.

Before I sign off, after looking through some of your Lolz & leaving the previous msg., I looked thru your collectibles. Would you consider sending a fruitcake my way? (p. 3 of retired collectibles) When ICHC started the collectibles, I couldn't get an Internet connection going right at all. The phone co, through which I get my service, finally found that a late autumn lightning strike had zapped it! (I knew abt no elec. because the bolt hit the transformer at the back border of our yard & woods.) I hadn't thought at all abt it affecting the modem. Anyhow, I finally got that replaced, then my computer chose to crash. I finally got that fixed mid-winter. Anyhow, I didn't know abt the collectibles right away & I couldn't catch all the way up before they closed those holiday collections. If you can send a fruitcake, then thanks in advance. :-) As I earn the collectibles (usually daily), I immediately gift any that are extras, so I'll keep an eye out for one you need. G'nite again I-)
