Happy Easter Holidays! Many (chocolate) eggs for you!

Stupid fiddeling with the clock. In the morning it feels like something is wrong with gravity and in the evening the light makes me awake and I can't sleep. I do a lot of training at the moment (strength, endurance). In May I will take part in a walking marathon (40km) and a walking event (14km). After this I am ready for a 180km/ 9 days trail in Germany on my own. Another walking event (5km), a 24 hours walk (2500hm, 56km) in the mountains, a walking event of 6km and between all of this I planned some shorter trails on my own from 20km to 80km in one to three days.

Ohai, just time to reply before logging out and joining the boycott - I have to do it tonight otherwise I shall forget in the morning. We moved our clocks one hour forward to stay in line with the rest of Europe, on CET until the end of October. I love the long evenings, and spring is well and truly here. Yes, everyone survived the cold spell (except some plants in the garden!). Hope you rested over the weekend, sounds like you have been pretty busy lately. Where is your next hiking trip going to be? I'm hope to get away to Spain at the end of May, for a doing-nothing sort of holiday - still in the planning stages though! Have a good week!

Hi cheezfriend, how are you? Do you have summer/ winter time in France?

By Ginkochiless on Mar 27, 2012 at 1:51 PM

I am out if a fb account is needed. Oh yeah the weather is awsome. A pity if have to work. Maybe I should ask my boss for a kind of field trip to the next cafe or ice cream parlour. ;-) I am so tired. Lots of work, my excursions, my training for hiking season, house work... Today I was at a women soccer match and came home about an hour ago. Can't decide if more hungry or tired. Maybe I find something in the kitchen which I can eat without much preparation before I go to bed. Sleep well and greetings to your family and all of your animals. Hopefully the latter are fine after the harsh weather and being outside.

By miniminsmum on Mar 27, 2012 at 12:43 PM

Yup, reed all about it here http://cheeztowncryer.wordpress.com/2012/03/25/forced-facebook-invasion-of-ichc/#comment-10913 and here: http://cheeztowncryer.wordpress.com/2012/03/25/forced-facebook-invasion-of-ichc/#comment-10913 and even here: http://blog.cheezburger.com/announcements/welcome-to-the-new-cheezburger/ Otherwise how's things. I've finished my stint with human rights, so enjoying being at home again and the spring weather.

Seriusly? Ichc only with FB account?!

By miniminsmum on Mar 25, 2012 at 1:10 PM

Ohai - boycott ICHC - 2 April - read all about it here: http://cheeztowncryer.wordpress.com/2012/03/25/forced-facebook-invasion-of-ichc/#comment-10801

Uh, it's me beeing late with an answer. My week was really hard and I was always so tired in the evening. And this weekend I was sleepy too. Maybe it's spring beeing in the air ;-) Thank you so much for your helpful comments about my movies. I'll try make sth out of it when I visit the heating plant on Tuesday. Have a good week.

By miniminsmum on Feb 21, 2012 at 12:59 PM

Hey, sorry for the late reply! Work took me by surprise and I didn't even look at ICHC yesterday evening. Hmm, here it was cold again, nothing like what we had, but still a strong north wind. But, they do say it'll be warmer at the end of the week. It was very rough on my little boat crossing the lake to go to work, but that's finished now, from tomorrow I shall be driving, or more likely sitting stuck in traffic jams :-( A pity, it was quite relaxing taking the bus and boat to work. I was very interested by your videos, and it'll probably take quite a few before you are completely satisfied with the results. That's art for you! I think the faster cuts suited the zoo video better because you were showing lots of specific different things (well, animals, birds, fish, etc.) rather than an overall global view as with the Bank. In the Bank video it was good to have longer takes, giving a more general idea of the premises. I quite like the idea of just music, somehow a commentary would clutter it up, and unless it's a much longer documentary you probably wouldn't be able to explain much with just the odd word or comment. The deicing film is less "visual" and the commentary is quite useful (good job I had my son next to me to translate!!). I shall be interested to see the next one!! Tonight I made pancakes with lemon and sugan, a throwback from when I was a child, and the only time of the year we had pancakes was on Shrove Tuesday, and always with lemon and sugar. At least none stuck on the ceiling when I threw them up in the air to turn them over. I'm now drinking thyme tea, not very exciting, but good for colds - it's only a small one thank goodness. Have a good week! Schmoos

My weekend was great. I was at least as busy as you and when I go to bed in an hour or so I will will be very pleased with me. Since Wednesday or Thursday it feels like spring. There isn't this sharpness in the air anymore. But today it snowed for a short time huge flakes. Nothing left though. You watched them? I didn't read a smart book how to do it and it still feels not completely Ok and yes it takes several hours to cut it together. And it takes sooo much time to find the right song. But what do you think? In the zoo video the cuts are faster than in the bank video. Which feels better? Especially the European Central Bank video, doesn't it feel like a kind of narration is missing? Didn't it bore you? I tried to show how we got from A to B even the stairs but I fear it's still a bit confusing. In the deicing video it's the original soundtrack and many people found it more interesting than just music. But when I cut longer movies the context gets lost with a word or sound here and there and it only works with music. An impossible mission. Puh, again a post only talking about me. I wish you a great week. Everything going smooth with your commuting, enjoy the people you meet, have a good time at your work but although time for yourself, your family and animals.

By miniminsmum on Feb 19, 2012 at 12:46 PM

Ohai Ginko, hope you had a good weekend and the weather has warmed up for you too. I have been watching your films, and I'm very impressed with them. Very interesting, and cleverly done. I like the accompanying music too. They must take you ages to make, all the cutting and putting together and adding music etc.! The weekend is almost over, I managed to get most of the things done that I wanted to before work tomorrow. The snow and ice are quickly melting, Geneva will be back to normal, no more ice sculptures!

By Ginkochiless on Feb 17, 2012 at 2:41 AM

Oh good to hear. I saw you gliding and sliding over a slippery plank to get on your boat in my mind ;-)

By miniminsmum on Feb 16, 2012 at 1:49 PM

Oh I gettcha!! Well, luckily the pavements were cleared of snow pretty quickly, it's just along by the lake where the waves blew over the top and left a layer of ice on the pathways that it was impossible to walk. Even yesterday, with the temperatures rising, there ws someone going along on ice skates! Just checked on YoWindow (do you know that weather programme?) and the temperatures are rising, still +1° at 22.45. Now too bed, have to get my bus at 10 to 8 tomorrow.

By Ginkochiless on Feb 16, 2012 at 9:12 AM

I got that with you not taking the pictures at the first time. But it must been very slippery though. I was in Hamburg in 2010 when there were centimeters of pure ice on the footpaths. It was more a gliding from lamppost to fence to car to trafficlight to lamppost or whatever I got to hold on than walking. Bad luck all the spikes were sold out then. So what did you do? Some say a pair of old socks over your shoes should do the trick. Have a nice evening. I came home a second ago. I have to make my gymnastics, hoover my flat, do the cooking, have a shower and finally relax a little. And tomorrow it's already Friday. Caturday is near. Yeah!

Oh no, I didn't take them, my photos are not nearly as good!! It's not every year we get such a sight, but the very strong wind and the low temperatures combined to make some amazing sculptures! I'll certainly have a look at your videos, thanks for the link. I'm lucky, I can pick and chose when I work, I certainly wouldn't manage working all the time, nor would I want to. On that note I shall start to think about packing up, I don't want to miss the boat that takes me across the lake to catch my bus home.

By Ginkochiless on Feb 16, 2012 at 7:33 AM

Geez, that looks more like art than anything else. Totally unreal. How did you move? With spikes on your shoes? Thanks for the information about the UN. That sounds really good. Easier to visit than the European Parliament. Over the years I made tons of photos. But now I have a pocket camcorder. Some of the movies about the places I visited since I bought it can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Ginkochiless Yeah working is hard! Thats what my mum never understands. My day is at least a third shorter than hers. She calls me in the evening and is totally amazed that I just have come home. On weekends she is amazed how I can sleep in and can't understand where all my housework is coming from. She of course is a busy bee and did hers all in the morning before having her quality time. Oh my.

By miniminsmum on Feb 16, 2012 at 6:53 AM

Ohai! Been busy, busy, busy at work, and at home catching up doing all the things I didn't get around to doing because I was at work!! Thank goodness it is only for five weeks. I think that sounds really interesting to visit all those places you mentioned!! It's true, we take them for granted and never look deeper into how they work. I'm sure there are lots of things to be learned. The UN here in Geneva run a visitor service with guided tours several times a day. Unless you are a large group you don't even have to book in advance. We could have done with some deicing here - take a look at some of these photos taken around Lake Geneva by a colleague http://www.flickr.com/photos/paraman/sets/72157629305615615/ But now it's slowly melting and not looking so pretty. Well, I'd better get back to work! Schmoos

Wow, I'm impressed. 1200 collectibles! Another wow: United Nations. But I must admit when I hear Geneva Cern and LHC comes to my mind. When I hear UN the building in New York pops in my mind where Alfred Hitchcock filmed even though forbidden. My life is not this interesting. Not very easy and full of uncertainess. But I earn my own money and get along. I try not to think much about it and enjoy my life instead. You remember my hobby, hiking? Another one is to visit places 'which make the world go round' (sorry, don't know another way to describe it). Things nobody cares about because everybody is so used to them. So I visited a sewage plant, nuclear plant, control center of a train station, a newspaper, a water reservoir, a police station, food factories... A few month ago I bought a small camcorder. The fun is even bigger now. To make a long story short last week I was really busy. Thursday I filmed the deicing of a a Airbus A380 and Friday I visited the European Central Bank. At the end of the month I look forward to visit a heating plant. In March I will have a look behind the scenes of a soccer stadium and in April a central market and the ESOC are on my list. So the UN sounds like a very interesting place. But sure tickets if available have to be bought long beforehand. For ESOC it was hard to get a ticket for this year- last autumn! Sorry. Again I wrote such a long message.

Ohai, how are you? Warming up a bit at last and the ground will thaw out and the horses will be happier! We've had to break ice so they can get to the water, and take them extra apples to keep warm!! Back to work today, for five weeks - hard! I stayed home for 25 years, then decided short-term work was not a bad idea. It's something I do three times a year for conferences at the United Nations in Geneva. Makes a change in lifestyle, mostly getting up to catch the bus and boat in the morning!! I just need to get the huzzband organized with the shopping and cooking (some hopes)! The great collectible rush seems to have calmed down, I had four peeps to help over the past week, but three are finished and the last one only needs about 6 things, and probably has coins. I saw that I had gifted nearly 1200 collectibles, most of which I begged from others! I wonder why! Take care, and have a good week!

Hi, how are ya doin? Everything well with your horsies? None injured or frozen?

By Ginkochiless on Feb 7, 2012 at 1:06 PM

I feel funny today! http://cheezburger.com/Ginkochiless/lolz/View/5801199872

By miniminsmum on Feb 7, 2012 at 6:52 AM

Oh, that's sweet of you to think of me. I have more or less everyone sorted out and I think she will find better use for the extra collectibles than me, she is so well organized. Yes, it's true the birds need extra help with the cold weather. I try to hang the balls of fat up for the tits, but they freeze after an hour or so. So, I bring them in, and put new ones out, and so on and so forth! I try to put things on the floor for the blackbirds and robins too, and water, but that freezes so quickly, and they are a bit wary of the saucer so don't go to drink. We make warm porridge for the chickens, would you believe!!! I will be so happy when spring comes. Take care on the ice!

By Ginkochiless on Feb 7, 2012 at 5:26 AM

Hi, is there anything urgent you need? It's because otherwise I would spend my last coins to buy rare collectibles and send them to jlandis?

By Ginkochiless on Feb 7, 2012 at 2:58 AM

Buyer wrote me about the limitatation beeing off so first thing was giving all my extras a new home as fast as I could in case it is a computer glitch. I still have some coins left so if you want me to buy something tell me. About the cold. I feed wild birds. They are so brave and tough fighting for their lives outside. Did you know that tits (or titmouse? titmice?) loose up to a quarter of their bodyweight over night. When they don't go to sleep stuffed full with high energy food and don't find breakfast fast = death. Fatballs (the birds are reminded at the consistence of juicy insects) and peanuts and peanutbutter are great things to feed now. I hope none of yours horses breaks it's legs.

By miniminsmum on Feb 7, 2012 at 1:33 AM

Ohai Ginko. Did you get the message that multi-gifting is now possible? I won't be needing to relay, but anything you'd like to unload on my I can pass on! Thanks for all your help, it's been fun. Cold here still, down to -15° last night, when is it going to end. The horses have to be so careful not to slip on the frozen mud, our chickens are huddled into balls, and Frosty the cat thinks going out and hunting for mice can wait til spring! Keep warm Schmoos

By Ginkochiless on Feb 6, 2012 at 6:33 AM

Sent and sent. And azevedan wrote it was ok. Do you know wally? Seems he or she does the organization of the collecting for GumbieKat. Never heard of this cheezfriend though.

By Ginkochiless on Feb 6, 2012 at 6:24 AM

The tinsel and the ice cream are sent. But I got this massage from azevedan and now I am a little bit confused: 'If you're involved in the relay to GumbieKat, remember to not send GK anything until you get the note from Wally01 about what she's sending, and then the collectible.' So shouldn't I have sent the tinsel?!
