I have almost 400 that I liked/voted for, I have only made 5 of my own. But I do see what you mean, by studying those, I can see how they work. Sometimes when I try to make one, I get an idea for the caption, then try to find the right pic to use it on, with others I see a pic, and the caption just pops in my head. I try to get the right feel for the wording to make it funnier or easier to understand, and that can be difficult.
