Got my first paid work in my new career a couple of weeks ago. Am a lab tech in secondary schools, releiving while regular lab techs are away. Is definitely very different from my previous work in enterprise level IT (fancy new name for what we used to simply call 'mainframe' or 'IBM '). I understand the frantics that come with looming deadlines :) Have fun and enjoy it while you can. Did you and gf decide to get a kitty?

I think the 30 thing is "I won't be in my 20's anymore! I better grow up, get serious, stop just having fun, I haven't done all those things I was gonna do by 30, cos 30 is so old, etc, etc", panicking just a little bit. Try not to worry - in 5 yrs time you will wonder what you were worried about ;) As for me, 50 didn't bother me at all - I earned it, but now I'm thinking 60 is less than 9 yrs away - 60 IS old - oh! oh! - but I probably won't be too bothered about it by the time I get there :P

Oh forgot to tell you.. one reason I has 2 kittehs now is that I used to feel guilty about leaving Sebastion on his own for long days, so after the hard decision for him, I got 2 itteh bittehs from the shelter who liked each other and liked me too. They are independent, but great mates and Goldy makes an excellent pillow for Tinker :) They stand shoulder to shoulder when looking out the window at birds or trying to make me understand my duties as a properly trained servant LOL

28 sounds so young, but it's not really and I can tell you from experience, most people I know didn't like turning 30, but at 40 we were pretty happy and saying things like "40? nah that can't be right - it's supposed to be old and I don't feel old" At 40 also people were taking risks and making changes to their lives. I bought a new house and gained a mortgage when I only had 2 months left on my contract ;) At 50 we get restless and think "do I wanna do this for the next 15 yrs or so til retirement?" In many cases the answer is no, so we make radical changes of career or go back to school or take on new hobbies or sports :D My sister started doing triathlons at around 45! Having your own kitteh to boss you both around sounds good - if you are both kitteh lovers and ready for the responsiblity LOL then go for it and allow a kitteh to choose you :)

Goldy and Tinker are roughly 8 orbits around the sunbeam maker, the servant is 51 orbits (already!!!!). Does the 28 refer to tiger or servant ?

Oh and one possibility I have applied for includes testing of toys - no kidding!! would test stuff like flammability, endurance, lead content of paint, color fastness and how long batteries work with that pesky red dot thing :)

HaHaHaHaHaHa !!!! there's all kinds of geeks in tiger clothing :) I was an IT geek, but have done studies so I am now a Laboratory Technician. The job market here for IT is rapidly dropping off as work is sent OS, plus I was pretty bored (same old same old) so time for a change. Loved the studies - science is what I enjoyed at school, but at that time there were few jobs and even fewer for women. IT was new and exciting :) Lab Tech work can be anywhere products are tested, in schools, pathology (icky body parts and excretions), microbiology testing of foods (so many bacteria - good and bad), environmental, manufacturing, etc. So the range of possibilities is much wider - just gotta get a paw in the daw......then ensure the rest of me to the tip of the tail gets in as well.

Hi fang boy :) have been busy with gifting and RL and tending demanding kittehs - one is berserking thru the house right now, then comes to demand that I join in LOL, When I don't cooperate he sighs - as only a kitteh can - then goes off to berserk some more. But I'm still not leaving this poohter cos today has gotta be dedicated to job hunting (sigh).
