When I make a dumpling.. I cook it in the pot with the stewed chicken. When I make a biscuit.. it's a dumpling cooked on a cookie sheet (jelly roll pan) baked in the oven like a dinner or yeast roll. Trying to figure out what we're talking about is going to be part of the story for Ian. This is fun! Happy New Year to you too and I hope it brings all kinds of Blessings that you hadn't even thought of! yay!

What do you call individual lumps of bread? I cannot think of another name of them. We have yeast rolls but those aren't our biscuits.. I have finally learned how to make a gravy using milk and flour and sausage grease.. oh that sound so yummy. ewww but it is good. My all time favorite gravy is from roasted meat in Golden Mushroom soup. I add a couple of pounds of sliced mushrooms, usually button, and THAT's my favorite gravy. So, individual lumps of bread... and that sounds yummy too.

Yep, we have biscuits and gravy here :) Although to us what we call biscuits is what people in America would call cookies :) I have to confess I'm a big fan of gravy ^^; I always end up drowning my Sunday dinners in it *lol* I even helped my mum out on Christmas by making it for part of our dinner along with my special sweet potato mash: We had a big roast dinner with all the trimmings :D Anyway all the best with your book :) It'll definitely be something your grandson will treasure :) Hugz Andie

Question!... I'm writing an on going story for my grandson and I have made part of the story stopping at different diners in the South that display the sign "World's Best Biscuits and Gravy" The comment in the story is my questioning the claim 'World's Best' and so I'm asking JIMINCAIRNS (Australia) and you (Ireland) if you guys have biscuits and gravy in your countries. Jim didn't know what I was talking about and I thought he's spent time in the U.S.A. He was HERE? and doesn't know of biscuits and gravy? Now, in this story, I'm making the claim that B&G were invented in Texas... my mother was a Texan. we can make claims like that. So.. do you have b&g in Ireland? Thanks.

HELLOOO my Northern Ireland friend!! REQUEST!! I'm writing a story for my grandson and made mention of stopping at all the diners on my journey that brag about their biscuits and gravy. One sign states they have the BEST IN THE WORLD!! so I mention my online friends who live in Ireland and Australia to see if THEY eat biscuits and gravy in those countries. Do you? I thought that was a Southern American delicacy. I grew up on B&G but my mother was a Texan. I've seen it on menues every where I've travelled in America and some states are WAY better at it than others. How about Ireland. Are biscuits and gravy a staple there? Thanks.

I'm going up to Trader Joes on Sunday and I will look for Peri-Peri nuts while I'm there. After Church we're driving up to Portland.. for some odd reason Salem doesn't have a Trader Joes.. huh. The CAPITOL of this fine state.. no Trader Joes.
