Yeah, I've been following the comic. But I sorta quit reading the X-related titles after Claremont was fired by Marvel way back in '93. And I hated how Marvel completely changed the character of Wolverine by giving him those stupid "boneclaws". But I have kept track of the X-characters, by perusing the titles at the newstands, just haven't been buying the books though.
As for who could've played a better Logan, I'd have to say the quintessential choice would've been an in-his-prime Jack Nicolson or Clint Eastwood; Afterall, it seems that Claremont and the various artists of that time probably based Logan off of either/and/or Eastwood and Nicolson. As for relatively younger actors, I'd say that either Russell Crowe or Robert Carlyle would've been great for the role.
I doubt Crowe would've gone for it though. Do you remember Robert Carlyle? He was in Trainspotting, as Frank Begbie.
