You've never heard stories of the Grimm Reaper? The god of death? Her weapon, a scythe, is the Reapers weapon of choice. Since a scythe was originally used to reap wheat during harvest, but the Reaper uses it to harvest souls. Those stories are what gave mortals the idea to use a scythe as a weapon as well as a tool. That's why I like to call her that
