Yay! There you are! I've been super busy (dental stuff and garden), but I've missed seeing you...how are you? How's the weather? We're solidly into spring now (which is always what we think right before it snows.) Hope you are well...

I've been off for a week! (Off of the computer, not off my mind.) Appointments...gonna get dental implant. How are you? Now I'm hoping for more time here. We are having our spring winds. Remember those? Dermabrasion for FREE!

Hi! I've been doing stuff...I have to join Medicare this year and decide whether or not to take Social Security...also must get taxes ready...ugh. Hate this stuff. I'm glad you got some rain! We had more snow but now it has really settled in to what seems like Spring. (However, this may just be a trick. The rule of thumb is don't plant annuals until after May 15.) We WERE going to go to England, well, right now, but John has a bad back (3 spinal fusions) and he hurt it somehow. He has to have a very minor series of surgical procedures. And sitting in a plane for 10 hours is OUT right now. So we're just hunkering down. It was great to hear from you...I'm glad all is well.//I'm totally obsessed with my fitbit. Averaging about 9 miles a day (total). And I can tell I'm getting much stronger!
By betskand on Mar 10, 2015 at 3:33 PM
Hey! How are YOU? On Sunday I walked 11 miles...groan. Had to soak feet in epsom salts. (Not all at once.) What's happening in SA? We are having spring...I'm getting gardening fever. A lot of peeps are getting juniper fever also! The pollen count is to the ceiling.

Been busy, but we are all fine here. Did my volunteer shift at the adoption center this morning. We had four adoptions last week, and two empty cubbies this morning. Raining today like crazy, and the weather has been roller coaster, so we haven't been walking for about a week and a half sadly. Goty IT friend to adopt one of our rescue kitties about 3 weeks ago and he keeps me up to date on how well they are bonding. Got my first ticket here in TX in December so last weekend I spent doing an online driving safety course so the ticket won't go on my driving record. Talk about something you have to 'slog' thru - UGH! But it is done and now I just have to file the appropriate paperwork with the court and my insurance company. Next up is more government papery stuff (taxes) .... We just finished the annual 2 + week Rodeo, and Fiesta is coming up soon.Glad to hear how many miles you're walking, regardless of how you do it! I have an app on my iphone that tracks my steps too, but it only works when I am carrying the phone :-) So, unless we are doing our walks, it doesn't give me any info. What's up with you and John? Are you going to be travelling this year?
By betskand on Mar 9, 2015 at 9:30 AM
Hey, how are you? John asked yesterday and I couldn't tell him. We're having spring. And I'm walking like crazy because of the fitbit! On Sunday I walked over 10 miles (not like your hike, however...just all-day total...but it WAS a lot of walking.)

Happily, I'm not very allergic to juniper pollen. The season lasts about a month...every time I brush a juniper branch (there are some around my house) a cloud of golden powder flies out. My next-door-neighbor is so allergic his eyes nearly swell shut. He always drives to California to visit friends at this time.//Didn't know you had some feral kittehs! Good for you. They are hard to make friends with.//Going for a walk in a few minutes! I got a message from Fitbit (it records your numbers every day) saying that I had walked the length of the London Underground. Wow! (Of course, that's spread out over a number of months.) By the time I'm 90 I may get to ABQ...
By catmom on Feb 5, 2015 at 5:05 PM
Oh no, juniper fever in Santa Fe ICK!! I don't remember any allergy problems in NM. I hope you and John get over the 'fever' soon. I'm not walking, just the boring treadmill instead, and I just can't bring myself to go as far on that darned machine as we do when we walk, It is sooooo boring, even with TV and or music. Supposed to have a hard freeze tonight. I worry about my feral kitties when it is this cold here. Dante will hopefully sleep in his heated bed in the box I have set up for him, but I still worry about him and the others - the others just come intermittently for food; he pretty much lives in my yard now.

Oh noze! We have "juniper fever" here...and it's getting started. John and I were doing our daily reading-out-loud and he kept sneezing.//I AM walking! The fitbit makes me obsess about collecting steps...I think I weirded out the people in line at Whole Foods by walking in place while I waited...//Sun back and temps in the 50s here.//How about you? No walking because of the cedar?
By catmom on Feb 1, 2015 at 10:58 AM
Congratz onna nudder FP!! Things are OK here; I'm having another bad bout of 'cedar fever'. Gives me 'cabin fever' too because I try not to go outside because of the pollen in the air. Most of the drama with the termite issue is done - just waiting to hear from my pest control people as to whether they will cover the cost of my damage repair. I have had a contract with them for over 10 years to do quarterly treatments for pests and an annual termite inspection. If they were doing their job properly, I would not have had a termite infestation. The labor and materials for the repair were just under $200.00. Hopefully, they will cover the expense. If they don't, it is not the end of the world; I will just be disappointed in them. Are you walking? Is that fitbit keeping you on track?
By betskand on Jan 28, 2015 at 9:07 AM
John and I are fine...so glad Kibby and Chessie have been liberated! I went to ABQ yesterday to see a doc (checkup). Thought of you! I'll bet you'd be surprised at all the growth. Freeways everywhere...
By betskand on Jan 28, 2015 at 8:54 AM
Yeah, mañana mentality is a Southwestern specialty. (It's part of my character as a native!) Hope all is well...we're back to nice weather after 3 days of snow (but not that many inches.) How are you?
By betskand on Jan 23, 2015 at 1:04 PM
All our beautiful snow of yesterday has melted in the sunshine! I guess I should be happy...any precipitation for us in the West is good, right? Glad you are going to go out and enjoy yourself. Maybe there's a feel-good movie like "Attack of the Killer Termites!" (Laughing hysterically at my own humor!)
By catmom on Jan 23, 2015 at 12:17 PM
Yea!! Termites have left the building and all tradesmen have completed the repairs! Just have to wait for the paint to dry before Kibby and Chessie can leave the nursery. And, finally I can get out of the house for some r&r tomorrow with a gal pal - we are off to the movies and lunch. How are you and John doing? Srill having lovely snow? Rain has stopped here, but it is still cloudy and overcast.
By catmom on Jan 22, 2015 at 10:39 AM
Well, sounds like you have lovely weather there in SF. We are having a cold dreary rainy day. Hopefully the finish carpenter and the painter will show up here at 2PM this afternoon. Hope to have the repairs done by tomorrow latest, but I never know. Here in San Antonio there is a real "manana" mentality with local tradesmen. Just have to hope and wait and see who shows up.
By betskand on Jan 22, 2015 at 8:34 AM
Hey, fankies for congrats! You must be busy? We had about 7 inches of snow yesterday and last night...beautiful! Now the sun is out and it's diamonds sparkling. I can feel this way because I don't have to slog through it to go to work. Before I was retired I HATED snow...//The poor kittehs, confined to the nursery! How's the work going?
By catmom on Jan 20, 2015 at 12:04 PM
Thank you, my friend!! The termites have left the building, yea!! Now I am getting estimates for the repairs. Kibby and Chessie are remanded to the kitty nursery, so time is of the essence to get the repairs completed. They are getting serious cabin fever!

Oh, by the way... HORRIBLE pics of termite damage. Are you sure you don't want to move to Santa Fe? All we have is nice little horny toads...
