I hope Pumpkin and Jerry are doing well! Hugs, Jack
By blackbellied_jack on Jul 7, 2011 at 11:24 AM
Oh, I LOVE him! He's just the finest most handsome cat I've seen. Cannot hardly wait to see Jerry. That's a great name, too. Maybe I never told you before, my Mom's nick name growing up (and for a long time until my Uncle Richard died) was "Punkin" -- that's the way they said Pumpkin in Tennessee. When I was young, maybe seven or so, Mom had a marmalade tabby male similarly colored of Pumpkin. She named him a Cherokee name that her brother had named a cat when she was a young girl "Oochie" (from what I can remember that means "hides in the woods") I know you are so happy to have him back and I pray that his separation and that of Jerry's will be forgotten before long. You all deserve all the happiness in the world! Hugs for all, Jack

Check out my new avatar...it's PUMPKIN! Jeremiah (Jerry) is still hiding behind a dresser in what used to be Mother's bedroom. I've never had a cat that did "underbed surfing," but we did have one who did that under the sofa we used to have. Pumpkin body-surfs short distances across the carpet after he's had a small hit of 'nip. He really is making himself at home.
By blackbellied_jack on Jul 7, 2011 at 12:51 AM
Gaa... Pixie and I just dubbed it "Topsy Turvey Turbines", lol.
By blackbellied_jack on Jul 7, 2011 at 12:50 AM
My cats used to love to go underbed circuit surfing, every single night. They would lay upside down under the bed and run in circles, clawing kingdom come out of the box springs, but it was the funniest thing I've ever seen, maybe........ hehehe. Well, who examines the undersides of box springs anyway? not meeee. Give them time to blossom, dem lil flowerz. hugs, Jack

Fangkew for favoriting my "Ruby on Darkover" lol. I wonder how many Cheezpeeps even know where, or what, Darkover IS! Heh! (Cottman IV, y'all! Invented by the late Marion Zimmer Bradley) PS: Pumpkin seems to be settling in better than I expected, but he prefers my sister's lap to mine. Jeremiah is still hiding, maybe in another dimension, but he eats a lot and uses the litter box when he thinks we're asleep. It will take time. My heartfelt thanks to you and Pixie for all your good wishes, and for a really fan-flippin-tastic Waterblol Fite. When's the next one? A Jack o'Lantern contest for Halloween? Or a Stupid Costume contest?
By exhoicat on Jul 3, 2011 at 2:59 PM
Fangkew, fangkew, fangkew. They're still hiding in Pumpkin's carrying crate, and I don't like the look of Jeremiah at all...nothing but skin and fur. I'm just leaving them be; put fud & H2O where they can see it. Let them adjust to being in a real home instead of a cattery. I've been through this before with other adopted adult cats. *sigh* I wanna HOLD them! Rite Nao! More later. My fingers are still numb...the only advantage to this is that it doesn't hurt when I have to get a drop of bhlud for my glucose meter. Duh.

YIPPEEE!!!!! This is the GRAND DAY! I am so happy for you and for Pumpkin and Jeremiah! This calls for special activities to celebrate! Happy Danse! Hugs for all 3 of you! ~Jack

I HAS A PUMPKIN KITTEH-MAN! And his "frieind" Jeremiah. They just got here, and are still cowering in their carriers. I put them in the back of the house, within sight of the litter box in one direction, and food and water in the other direction, and I'm just going to leave them alone till they figure out that they finally have a Forever Home.

Hugs for you {{{{Felaine}}}} and I will be able to write more as my therapy goes forward. I'm not going to have to have surgery but the shoulder is still "borked" and writing or typing is still painful, to do a lot of it. I can fave or do mouse tasks, but the reaching for individual keys and buttons is still painful. It will get better, it has improved so much. We are celebrating here about both events, me, Mom and Pixie. Doin' happy dansin' and stuff. I will find some special Native prayer and ask for Pumpkin to be home with you too. Much affection, Jack.

Awww...fangkew. I'm so sorry your mom has been having such a bad time...I went through that with my mother for almost 9 years, but the chemo and surgery did work, and most of the time she was all right. I was the one doing all the worrying. I need to think up an emoticon to signify a cross-country hug. And I'd like to get back to discussing The First Americans some time. Fascinating subject...what some of my ancestors did to my other ancestors, f'r instance. But I really love the fictional speculations about how The People got here originally, and how they might have coped with drastic climate changes, extinction of the Mammoths, and everything. And if you and Pixie were out here we could ALL go get Pumpkin, and make a party of it! Fangkew again. XOXOXO

Awww hun, dass ok. Mom has been very sick, but yesterday the doc gave us good news! No surgery for her, and last week I found out no surgery for me! So one day when you least expect it, you will get your good news too! If we were on the Pacific Coast we would get Pumpkin for you... makes me have a sad, he needs to be with you. hugs, Jack

Awwww {{{{HUGS}}}} I needed to hear from you! How's our Pumpkin doing? Remembered you two at prayers yesterday and today. I kind of had an idea that the avacados were scarce this year, and I was happy to have an extra to send to you. Big smile, Jack
By exhoicat on Jun 6, 2011 at 1:26 AM
You sweet thing! I LOVE avocados, and our old fuerte' tree didn't have much of a crop this year, but we can see a LOT of teeny-tiny marbles starting to form now. They'll be ready to pick in November or December. IF the squirrels don't get them first! Thank you SO much! YUM! {{{BBJ}}}

I just posted a LONNNNG note to Pixie, and it's really for you, too. The most important part, IMO, is this: "I want so much to help, but I have no idea what I can do except send what little I can afford to some disaster relief org. (I'm not much of a one for praying ... sorry...just the way I am.) Just stay close to the survivors, and mourn together as much as you need to. Let it all out. 'Shared pain is lessened, and shared joy is increased.' I learned that a long time ago, and I know it's true." Thinking of you both whenever I'm not fretting about The Great Pumpkin Rescue." Get yourself some physical hugs ... ones that DON'T aggravate your shoulder. Hugging has been proven to release beta endorphins that actually lessen pain. For a while. In the meantime{{{{{BBJ}}}}} from Felaine

Oh, I will certainly attempt to answer every message that I receive. You can't give me permission to have bad manners, lol. Pixie just got home from visiting Mom's side of the family in Tennessee and has been telling me that they also got hit really hard property wise. No one would tell us, only that they were all physically "ok". It was my Dad's side of the family that had five deaths all in one family, including one baby out of a set of twins. Pixie is still shaken by what she has seen on this trip. It's not just bad, it's the worst thing you can imagine. Tomorrow she says that we will attempt to drive up to the marina and see if the little caravan that my folks put there is still in place or if it is missing. It's not actually a rubber-neck trip, but I'd like to know if Dad's hard work survived the tornadoes. That is something I really need to see first hand. Well, I'm away for a little while, going to do my PT and maybe make a bit of dinner. ~Jack
By exhoicat on May 15, 2011 at 2:26 PM
You don't have to answer every note I send you. Sometimes I'm just babbling. And I have to apologize for being an insensitive fool, but I JUST DIDN'T KNOW! About you and Pixie losing so many family members in the tornadoes last month, I mean. Now that I know, I still can't wrap my mind around it... Dreadful. Just dreadful. I'm so sorry. Felaine

Hey dere! Just read my messages again and realized that I did not reply! oi oi oi... glad to hear from you, hugs, Jack
By exhoicat on May 14, 2011 at 2:13 PM
I'm pleased to hear you are getting some relief from the pain, but I know it's nawt enuf! Wish it was. Been there; done that. We're having another abrupt weather change here today, and that seems to aggravate everything, tho I did manage to run some errands this AM. My almost-antique car actually started! AFTER I turned the key in the ignition about 6 times.... Ain't life a gassss? {{{BBJ}}}
