I don't know if you ever knew how much we all missed you when you left. https://cheezburger.com/9251746816

Hey JL, Found this LOL and couldn't help thinking of you. Hope you're doing okay. http://cheezburger.com/6637385984

Ya know, you're supposed to be holdin' down the fort for me when I'm gallavantin' around the state and it's full gallavantin' season so I need you back here to keep an eye on these people ;-) Spent the weekend in Sonora/Columbia for admission day...good gosh is it purdy up there. Think I may go back for their all-equestrian-Christmas parade, if I can.

By jlandis on Aug 13, 2012 at 1:26 AM

You're a sweetypants, mister!

By AnOldCowhand on Aug 6, 2012 at 6:35 PM

JL!!!! You're back!! Yayyyy! We've missed you and that razor sharp wit ;-)

By AnOldCowhand on Jul 31, 2012 at 9:36 AM

Good morning JL, Sorry these messages are so far apart. I would blame "the busys" but like I told BD, that just becomes an excuse after a while. Honestly, I just haven't been on the cheez much and when I have been, it's been more hit and run than anything. I see you haven't been too chatty lately either and that worries me. I'm going to be at St. John's on Sunday and I'm hoping that we are still on. At the very least I'd like to buy you a cup of coffee. - James

By jlandis on Jul 21, 2012 at 4:16 AM

Yep, more or less. Nothing to worry about. How's things with you and yours?

By AnOldCowhand on Jul 20, 2012 at 11:34 AM

Hey, JL, you've been awful quiet, is everything okay down there?

By AnOldCowhand on Jul 9, 2012 at 8:57 PM

Amen.

By jlandis on Jul 9, 2012 at 10:40 AM

Thanks, mister. Those tears this morning surprised me, but I'm touched they came from your thinking about Boo and asking after him. He was an really good boy that brightened a thousand days just by being a happy little rascal. God has to love us an awful lot to concentrate joy in furry little packages and let us share and care for them!.

By AnOldCowhand on Jul 9, 2012 at 9:58 AM

Aw JL, I'm so sorry about Boo. I know how much you love your li'l guys and even knowing that it's coming doesn't make it any easier. I hassa sads with you. - Hugs, James

Plees no hassa 'shamed. Ai hassa 'barassed too, on accounta ai only made it thru a cupla sentences. Ai will reads the rest bery soon. Mai li'l Boo wif da kidnee failyur died last week, an ai hassn't got dun wif teh sads ober him. It wuz time, an' I gots to tell him how much I lubbed him and ebryfing. The night before he died he only ate a few of his sesame seeds, and he neber missed a sesame seed before. So I knew. When I got up the next day and checked on him, he was dead but still warm. I only missed an extra smoochie by a minute or two. I hate when that happens. So thank you very much for thinking about Boo. It means a whole lot to me. Hugs

Hi JL, has it really been a month since I wrote last? I has a embarrassed and a ashamed. I let "busyness" get in the way of life. Okay, let me try and get caught up a bit; You mentioned one of your loveys had failing kidneys. That was the first I'd heard of that. How is he doing? And another is blind? I know you work in "rescue" are these afflictions because of abuse or neglect? Have you and Mochi patched things up from the biting? Poor little guy, probably thought he'd committed an unforgivable. >Work is slow, that's one of the reasons that I haven't been around much. We've been taking 1 week furloughs every month and that has me distracted. Nothing like a 25% pay cut. To answer your question, I am a manufacturing engineer that has been pressed into service as a quality assurance manager. Fancy title when in reality I'm an inspector. Granted, I set QA policy and interact with both the vendors and the customers but still... The girls are doing good. Ruby was in for chemo on Friday so I took Fancy with me while I did some running around town and she thought that was pretty special. Ruby hates going for rides so they both wind up staying home when I'm going someplace. The kittehs are growing up (it amazes me sometimes how much they've grown) and both have become little lovers. >On 10 June I was in Sonoma for the Bear Flag Celebration and yesterday in Monterey for the Sloat Celebration of the raising of the Stars and Stripes over California. I've also been to Pleasanton once for the Native Daughters' Grand Parlor visitation and to King City to help out the Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum. Next weekend I'll be going to Yountville for the BBQ at the California Veteran's Home. The Native Sons & Daughters put on a BBQ for the veterans that live at the home. Phew...no moss on me. >I hope all is well with you and you're little ones. I will be down there on 5 August for the St. John's luncheon and I'm still counting on our date :-). I just don't know yet if I can invite a guest to the luncheon. If not, we'll go get coffee afterwards. -James

Yeah, still trying to decide whether to set fire to the computer or keeping trying. My vote changes several times a day. I'm okay -- just low on sorts. I'll holler before I'm completely out of 'em. :) Loveys are good. Li'l dwarfie Boo has been brighter and more active, but his failing kidneys are giving him little saddlebags to tote around, bless his heart. He's still as sweet and curious as ever, and keeps me perfectly safe from any renegade sesame seeds on the play counter. Jack got a new cage and isn't quite convinced it's home yet, but he does love his bigger wheel! Eats and sleeps in it even. I love seeing him that happy. He'll settle in it fine, just blind kids take a little longer sometimes. I wouldn't have changed things on him, but he outgrew his wheel. Mochi's been having regular li'l whinefests and being bossy as ever. He bit the snot out of one of my fingers (on the bad hand) this week. He was being playful and got too excited and I didn't remind him "gentle" fast enough. He so rarely breaks skin that it shocked him too. He hid most of the day yesterday and overnight too. Came out for a bit of banana though, so all's well. The piggy's are both good. Jordi's his little love-sponge self, and Moose has blossomed all of a sudden into a big ol' cuddlebug. (He used to squirm and try to leap.) How is work? I don't even know what you do! How's your house (and barn) full doing? And YOU? Too busy to list it all, I'm sure, but I do miss hearing. Hugs and scruffles for you and the whole crew!

Good mornin' JL, You've been scarce...then again, so have I. How is you 'n yer critters? I saw that you were having 'puter problems. I just went through that at work last month and I'm still putting things back together..

By jlandis on May 28, 2012 at 1:14 AM

Well, from the photos, it looked like a grand time. Thanks for sharing them! You have absolutely the most smiley eyes, mister! If I hadn't seen the other photo earlier, I still could have picked you out first try. (And so help me, if you try to "pshaw" that away, it'll be like telling God He does lousy work, so don't you dare do it!) How in the world did you break your hand?! That sounds much more like something I'd do (more than once, to tell the truth). Are you all healed up? I'm sure the Fickle Finger of Fate award boasts and long and colorful history, but just win it this once, okay? Shooting a 41 first try up against a winning score of 49 sounds like a little better than holding your own! Nice! Congratulations on taking up the task again this year. Being unchallenged is a mighty compliment, ya sillybutt. Raising $95,000 is a wonderful thing. Think how many kids that will help! I'm glad Ruby's doing so well, and not one bit surprised. I was chatting with Travis's momma this week, and he's still doing great too. She sent this video of him deciding he wanted to bring his beloved playpool indoors. http://s1085.photobucket.com/albums/j426/all4thedogs/TravisSwimmingPoolFun/?action=view&current=VID_20120208_095340-1.mp4 Hope you've gotten a little sleep, but I imagine it's just been a little and you've worried more about catching up on work than rest. Hope you're sawing big logs now and that this will find you rested in the morning! Wishin' you a great day, a big smile, and moar coffee! :)

Unfortunately August is instead of July, they moved it on me this year. I'll be that way again in November though, just not sure yet if I'll be in your neighborhood. Sorry about your tenant, I know you were looking forward to them. The trip was good, but long. It takes 7 hours to drive there and even with a break at the halfway point to see my brother, that's a mighty long ways. The meetings were....meetings. We covered the usual dose of business and resolutions, awards to honor parlors and individuals etc. I won the Fickle Finger of Fate Award for exceptional clumsiness for breaking my hand last year. On play day I shot Sporting Clays for the first time and had a great time with it. I only shot a 41 out of 100 but the best score was only 49 so I held my own at least. I was re-elected to my office but it was uncontested so that was no big deal. And we visited and talked and renewed old friendships. We only raised $95K for Cleft Palate this year. I guess the economy is starting to take its toll. Ruby is doing very well. She's happy and energetic and active and beautiful :-) And lastly, I'm tired. I got caught up a little bit last night but I've got a ways to go yet. Withdrawls? Well, if I'm guessing correctly, it's a strange thing, but I've got something for you in your email.

By jlandis on May 26, 2012 at 6:38 PM

Always moar coffee!!! Is August replacing July or an additional vizzit? I wanna know how excitimacated to get! You know, I recovered really fast, but the withdrawals are lingering. :) The new tenant I loved fell through at the last minute, so at least I've had lots of puttering around here to occupy me. Hao wuz yer trip and yer meetin'? Hao's Ruby feeling? Hao's YOU?

By AnOldCowhand on May 26, 2012 at 8:45 AM

Ohai JL, How've you been? Still recovering from the collectys? I've learned that we are going to be in Santa Monica on the first weekend of August. They said Sunday but I want to confirm that before I nail it down that firmly. >I just re-read your last message to me and I have to say that I'm touched...and just a little speechless. So, moar coffe?

By jlandis on May 18, 2012 at 10:45 PM

LOL! You're just not gettin' it, are you, mister? We met you from the inside out. When you meet someone over their kindness and start getting acquainted over their love for their animals and concern for yours, you meet 'em heart to heart. We all knew you to be beautiful long before that photo confirmed it! Poor bear. We've had some in L.A. lately too. http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/video?id=8616481 - http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/video?id=8647845 . Glad you got to see the WOF -- magnificent! Hope you're keeping a reasonable hour and getting good rest.

By AnOldCowhand on May 18, 2012 at 9:34 AM

ROFL! You both need to have your glasses checked :-) Wally01 too. Glad you got the tenants you wanted. >It's an odd day here. Started off with a minor traffic jam in Atascadero where somebody, southbound on Hwy 101 hit a bear. Not that that is all that unusual around here but it usually doesn't happen in the middle of town. Although, from the look of him, he wasn't all that healthy and was probably grubbing for easy meals in people's trash. >At noon today the Wings of Freedom Tour is supposed to be leaving SLO so I'm going to go try and watch them go. I've seen them arrive before and it's a beautiful sight but I've never seen them lift off. >Okie doke, Red Bob says everything is peaceful outside the walls so sleep well.

By jlandis on May 18, 2012 at 8:17 AM

Oh, and I got the tenant I wanted. Lovely couple, and my own next-door neighbors. Landlady's happy, and they insisted on knowing what dessert to bring to the lease signing. It's not a bribe once the paperwork's done! :) Bedtime for this bonzo. You and Red Bob hold down the fort. Give 'em all a pat for me.

By jlandis on May 18, 2012 at 8:11 AM

Hope it's a fine day there, mister. You'll have to ED my messages with Foxkatt. We got a question about your neighbor situation. :)

By jlandis on May 17, 2012 at 5:04 AM

Good morning, mister! Hope the coffee's strong and the day's pretty!

By jlandis on May 16, 2012 at 11:40 PM

Sorry, I was writing Foxkatt. I do some of the managing chores, 'cause I love my landlady and neighbors, and it keeps my rent down. Hope you're already asleep and that it's a good one!

By AnOldCowhand on May 16, 2012 at 11:15 PM

Well JL, I'm crashing hard so I'm gonna round up the critters for the evening and crash. You're in charge, good night.

By jlandis on May 16, 2012 at 11:05 PM

I'm sitting close to the 'puter hoping for word from the landlady that she'll approve the new prospective tenant. I've like a lot of people applying over the years, but this is one I couldn't be more sure of. I'd cross my fingers, but typing's hard enough as it is.

By jlandis on May 16, 2012 at 11:02 PM

LOL! Well, if you're dressed up like that, it'll be hot wherever you go! It IS quiet. I just dropped Syl a note. I think everybody's on the porch with a lemonade instead of hunched over the 'puter for once. The loveys are getting tired of having me hovering all day for company. Well, they will be when I run out of Karots. :)

By AnOldCowhand on May 16, 2012 at 10:52 PM

Is it just me, or is it quiet on here tonight? Anybody seen Sylvia?

By AnOldCowhand on May 16, 2012 at 10:45 PM

Wait! What?...Oh, *snerk* the dinner jacket. Depends on how hot it is. ;-D
