Smudge am doin grate! Fanks for askin. It was a bumpy ride taking him awf teh hart meds - teh sugars went upandown upandown, butt(!) fings are gudgud nao. He still needs teh insulin, but so nice to nawt be gibbon teh pills. As for me, ai found teh poison ivy in teh yard again. Ohai, lc! Juss chekkin in to see how yore doin now dat yore bak at werk. My hubcat had teh paw sir jury elebenty yeers ago adn has nawt had any prollems sinss. As for us, we juss went frew a week of worry wif Smudge wen his sugars went lowlowlow, so it'z been a week of poking hims ears adn adjustin hims insulin. Such a gudgud littlol payshunt, he rewards wif kitteh kisses adn purrs. I tell hubcat dis is good praktiss fore our (even) oalder yeers wen we may has to tayk care ob eech otter. Den we starts cuttin teh otter hart med down to nuffin. He luks strong adn happy. Ai doan't even complaynify when he wakes me ohso eerly for mornin noms becaws he seems happy. As for teh reel life - we'z in teh middol ob remuddling teh kitchen adn it habs been wun prollem after anotter. Nuffin liek leeky pipes tu briten teh day. Today am Smudge's 14th burfday (yay!) adn today we wented tu teh cat cardy...cardlolly... teh cat hart doc, hoo sed taht Smudge's hart am strong adn gud. He still needs teh insulin for teh sugar prollem, butt(!) she wants us to slowly decrease teh hart meds - first wun, den teh otter, until (crossing awl our finners adn toes heer) dey go poof! adn disappear. Ooooh! *bat bat bat at teh streemers* Smudge's diabetes am playin peakabu wif us. We'z lurning to match teh insulin d'ohsij to his eeting adn actibity lebels. I feel like it's a moving target, but we're slowly zeroing in on it. :-) We've stayed home the last few New Year's Eves, then invited friends over on New Year's Day for the western PA tradition of pork and sauerkraut and New Year's pretzels. The pretzel is just sweet roll dough formed into a large pretzel shape, baked, then glazed and decorated with nuts, cherries, whatever. I only make it once a year, so decided on Friday to do a trial run. Thought the dough felt odd, but didn't realize my mistake until I set it aside to rise, started to clean off the countertop, and saw the egg that was supposed to be added in at the beginning. You can't add the egg after the dough has been kneaded. (Ask me how I know this) Threw it out, had another cup of coffee, and started over. Second time's a charm. :-)

Ohai, Laurie! My silly sense ob hyoomur, let me show you it. I love gentle humor, word play, and trying to imagine what our furkids would say to us. I grew up watching Looney Tunes and Rocky & Bullwinkle every Saturday morning. Ugh, just looked out the window to see freezing rain and snow, and some healthy wind gusts. I'm so glad I don't have to go anywhere today. Take care out there in the frozen tundra. When I was in Mpls, I lived in Dinkytown, then Uptown. I still miss the stroll to Lake of the Isles.
