Hi cheezfriend! So you are going to introduce a new kitten? How fun! My foster kitties are actually all isolated from my cats because the kitties I foster often have illnesses we need to help them recover from. My cats are all current on vaccinations, but we still want to minimize risk of infection. That said, I have added cats to my herd several times. I find it's best to give the cat you already have lots of extra love and don't push them to become friends with the new kitten; just introduce and observe, and don't interfere unless you have to. Make sure the kitten has its own food and water dishes and add a litter box so each cat has their own if at all possible. Sometimes it takes a few weeks (or even a month or more) for an older cat to get used to a new kitten, but I find introducing a kitten is much easier (less fighting) than introducing a grown cat. Good luck with your new addition and give your the kitty you have now lots of extra love during the process. :)
