I couldn't agree more. You can tell from hearing him in interviews that he has no idea of how important and influential he really was. There's very little he's written that I don't love, but my all-time favourite of his is from Hunky Dory... Life on Mars. It makes me laugh, every generation some new act shows up dressing outrageously, (Ga Ga?) thinking that makes them important and edgy, and I find myself thinking, "Bowie did that, and better, almost 50 years ago, AND he wrote brilliant songs. Get over yourself!" lol
