Still missing you... But still, time to Celebrate! http://cheezburger.com/8486958336

Hey Safrida. Long time no chat. I sure hope you're OK and that you can drop in sometime soon. I miss you!

Whoa. New Kitteh sounds like a handful. How old is he, roughly? I'm guessing that your girl kittehs have had their purr mitzvahs, so hopefully you don't have to worry about a pregnancy outbreak. My friends, who seem to live in Stray Central, have a package deal with the local vet when they capture a newb. Check-up, deworming, treatment of injuries and a snip.

P.S. Our Lhasa Apso used to love hot dogs, but every time we'd give him one, he'd end up throwing up. My first day at college, Dad gave me a lift after lunch and Sparky was sitting between us. All of a sudden... "HURK!" Weenies all over the foot well.

I have some vegetarian friends and they don't see the point of tofu flavoured as meat. I've had my hands full lately with my own health issues as well as Mom and Dad's, but everything seems to be settling down at last! Everything good with you?

Duh! Sorry, it was his own valve that had to be replaced. The new one is piggie.
By safrida on Jun 25, 2014 at 5:51 PM
He has a pig valve, which is ironic considering that he's a former cop. As for Ebony's kittehs, there are four: three white and grey stripies and what looks like a tuxedo. Ebony went into labour late this afternoon and has safely but exhaustedly delivered her litter. TH is posting pics.

Dad's surgery went well! I was able to talk to him on the phone a little while ago after he had woken up and they'd taken the intubation out. He's groggy and sore, but he's got about six more years of life as opposed to one before his bad valve crapped out. The surgeon said as it was the valve was too small and did some "remodeling" to hook him up with a larger one. So now he has a few days of recovery in the hospital before he comes back and I move in to be his personal Nurse Rachett.

Didn't have any marshmallows for toasting over the bills. Didn't think of doing that, although I did do a little celebratory dance. I've always had chipmunks around. We used to go up to a neighbour's cottage on a lake about two hours north of here, and his little island was coated with chippies! Never got one to eat right out of my hand, though. That's been my ultimate goal. Can't believe this, but I have to go to bed now. I have to get up at 3 to go in to Toronto for Dad's heart surgery. He's scheduled for 8 am, which means checking in at 6 for the prep. Not worried too much. He's got the surgeon who teaches surgeons how to do this stuff. It's the medical equivalent of having Tom Jones sing at your Mom's birthday party. So I'll be checking in when things are settled! See you then, and take 'er easy.

To you as well, glowing Emerald! Spent the Solstice at the lake, burning old bills and feeding the most squee-dorable chipmunks.

Thanks!! We've had a cold and wet weekend, sadly. This is supposed to be the "start of the Canadian Summer", but it felt more like the start of April! I'm hoping we don't have too hot a summer, though. I don't react as well to the heat as I used to. We really got nailed with the humidity last year.

Well, of all my RL friends, only four (not including myself) still have living mothers. Three have lost both parents. There are only three of us who still have both still living. I know some of them take holidays like this kind of hard. But we rejoice in the family we still have and the family we made with each other.
By Emerald63 on May 11, 2014 at 4:13 PM
You're welcome. ++ I'm not a hoomin mom either. Just want' in the cards. And I lost my mom in '07. It's still hard to see all the LOLs on Mother's Day, and the ads on TV. But it does make me happy to think my friends can still hug their moms, even if I can't hug mine.

Thank you for informing me!! I unfaved AND downvoted the plagiarist. Because at school when you copy someone else's work, you get ZERO. Hope your Mom's day is going well. Not a Mom myself, but did pop up to see mine and take some home-baked cookies.

I just found a total rip-off of one of Chris10A's LOLs that you faved. If you want to unfave it, you can find it here: http://cheezburger.com/4385100288. And if you want to fave Chris' original, it's here: http://cheezburger.com/4368890624. Can't tell if you already did, as it has over 700 faves and we don't get to see all the icons anymore. Your choice... just letting you know.

Let's just say there were a number of us who caused premature whitening of our mothers' hair. I figured this would have some resonance!
By Emerald63 on May 10, 2014 at 6:08 PM
I **love** your Mother's Day tribute! I am quite sure that if it were a real ink and paper card my husband would buy it in a second for his own mom. :D

If they have the tools and the technology, it's possible. But if it went in the lake-- It would be cool if the fragments were found. I've been watching Cosmos with Neil DeGrasse Tyson and feel a lot more confident walking into a science class!
By Emerald63 on May 6, 2014 at 4:09 PM
If you'd seen the lengths the guys on the show went to, you'd understand my certainty. If the one that hit in your area was iron-based, all they'll need is metal-detectors, which is already standard equipment for them. Oh, and some hip-waders for the swampy area. Neither are deterrents for the True Believers. ;)
By safrida on May 6, 2014 at 4:06 PM
Well, the problem with the area it's supposed to have gone down in is that it is a mix of agricultural land, swamps, and lakes. Rocks landing in a farmer's still-damp field might just get plowed under while they're tilling. And the lakes and swamps are hard to search. They said on the news that it would be difficult to find anything in that area. But if someone wants to try...
By Emerald63 on May 6, 2014 at 4:02 PM
Oh I betcha the fragments *will* be found, because fresh out of space meteorites are worth HUGE money. There was even a show on the Discovery Science Channel a couple years ago, lasted for at least 2 seasons, called "Meteorite Men." It followed two guys who went all over the world investigating meteor known impact sites and searching for suspected ones. Depending on the type of meteor, the size, the condition (pristine, or not), and if it's brand new, they can be worth more than diamonds. And of course there's the increased value to science when they're new because then they can distinguish what conditions are space-caused, as there aren't yet many earth-caused ones. So glad you weren't hurt and didn't lose windows or the like!! I can see why you thought it might be an oxygen tank - I've seen footage of propane tanks going up - multiples at one time - and it is un-frikkin-believable!
By safrida on May 6, 2014 at 6:58 AM
It was first seen over Lake Erie and finally hit critical just over the north end of town, before hitting about twenty miles north. They said that it was roughly basketball-sized and that the fragments probably won't be found. But, yeah. Scared the crap out of everyone. I live beside the hospital and a senior's home so I was wondering if an oxygen tank blew!

I wasn't coordinated enough to do spinnies on an organ stool, but my parents had several swivel chairs that had the same basic effect without being in danger of unscrewing and landing on the floor!

Thank you! I'm told that when you're in the military you sleep where you can, so real rack? Yep. Have a great one!

Rack Time Gratsez! Hoo noo "rack time" ment on a reel rack?!

Well, we can't talk. I'm 100 km from the people who voted for Rob Ford, a man who told the entire nation about his sex life with his Stockholm Syndrome Candidate wife. But I think the difference between our politicians and yours in the rat-bastard infidelity department is that NOBODY wants to think about our politicians in any sort of sexual situation. Icky-icky-triple icky!!!

Not a prob. It's not like the LOLer's name is on them any more. (Shoots meaningful, stern glance towards Seattle.) This was Psom's baby. I'm just using my creative writing skills to push the plot along and create some intrigue!-- I can understand what your friend in Wichita is going through. I've got an acquaintance whose partner of 20+ years announced (and while she was very ill in the hospital, no less) that as far as he was concerned, they were done and she was free to move her crap out of the house at any point and since they'd never married, don't count on any kind of alimony or whatever. What he wasn't counting on was their friends telling him he's being an utter jackass and helping her explore the rules of Common Law Marriage in Ontario. Imagine his surprise when he was served a court order!!

My 'pawlogeez fur furgettin dat wuz ur LOL! So, do *you* know who started this latest side story? ++ It's nice and dry here today and is supposed to be tomorrow, too. Yesterday we had some rain, but not too much. Just enough, along with outrageous wind, to make driving back to my town from Wichita (about an hour away) after dark a real pain. I'd been to a doctor's appt and to take my best friend to dinner. She and her boyfriend of 12 years split in January (not her idea - a total shock, actually) and she's still trying to cope. The chilly rain is supposed to be back Sunday and for much of next week, too. Blah. Just... blah. At least there are plenty of pics of sunny, tropical places online to look at, and in 3 of the 4 calendars we have in strategic spots around the house. Sigh... I wish I could find out who pissed off summer and made it not want to come back.......
