Sorry. Had my hands full for a bit with Mom and Dad (they're good now) and then my neck went out of whack. And then I had computer problems. I didn't have internet access for a few days. I'm okay now except for a bit of a cold coming on.

Just turned on the computer for the first time in two days and there's a thing on Yahoo about Triinidad Col. getting a tornado! EEEP! Hope you're okay.

I'm on my way. About the time I was popping in to load up my plate, my sister called to go over next week's "If Dad Has Surgery" plans, then had to call Mom to remind her I wouldn't be up today.. BTW, have to thank you again for that wee flashlight you sent me, along with the Infinitely floofy socks. We had a lock down on Friday and I had a tech class that had to be ushered into a closet for safe-keeping. A dark closet. So your flashlight, kept in the bottom of my purse, was used to light the closet until the all clear was sounded. Turns out there was a young man threatening suicide on the third floor. He was in the stair well prepared to toss himself over, and rather than have spectators (or a cheering section) they called for a general lock-down.

Ahem. About Dmitri: 1. Banana perogies. 2. watching television and hosting illegal high-stakes poker games with other stuffed animals around the building. 3) Dr. Zhivago and Any Which Way But Loose 4) has never specified favourites, but definitely hates country and western.

My very good friend Becky (used to be best friend but moved away 33 years ago and I finally moved her down a notch about 2 years ago) has a tank of freshwater snails. Started out with 3 that came in on a plant now has 100's in a separate tank. full grown, they are only about 3/16ths of an inch long. She doesn't bother to name them, she just calls them the snails.

The epic tale of how I ended up with pet land snails: I had some students in Korea find a land snail on their way to the school one day. They put it in an empty cup and brought it to the school, figuring they'd freak out their teachers. Well, the Korean teacher was grossed out. But when they showed it to me, I said, "Aw, what a cute little snail!" So the kids said, "Is your new pet!" Hence, I took home my first one. Zipper the Wonder Snail lived with me for 10 months before getting its head stuck in its air hole and suffocating while I was at work. When i came back to Canada, I found two snails, Ziggy and Boomer, as I was coming home with groceries in October. I figured they didn't have long to live in that weather and took them home. They lasted a year and a half. Boomer is buried at my friend's dad's cottage and Ziggy is at The Farm. Now you know!

Tiny Tina is indeed a "made up" character, but very much based on reallity. She's in the shelter where Foofany is doing her community service and I'm going to have her adopted in time for Valentine's day. It's one of those things- the cat allergy keeps me from helping at a shelter or taking in a kitty or two, and the poverty is keeping me from donating cash to help locally. So if Tiny Tina helps raise awareness while she goes in the sidelines of the Foof story... I've done something? See ya on the sofa!

NawtyKitty's husband (diabetic) had an infection in his foot. The meds couldn't clear it so he went in for surgery. Almost immediately after, he had two strokes. They've had to induce comas and put him on respirators because it affected his breathing/swallowing and now he's been moved into a care facility. She just got notice that after a few days of minor improvements, things have deteriorated again, and the doctors aren't very hopeful about his chances. So she was heading up there today. Tucker Bently's going to be joining her for a while to give her a corporeal shoulder to lean on for a while.

Actuay, I picked Maple leaves deliberately because Ai wanted to hassle Little APC. The funny thing is, the first time I saw that photo, I 'missed' the obvious part. It wasn't until later I saw it- then I was thinking 'HOW could I have missed THAT?'
By safrida on Nov 18, 2012 at 5:13 PM
While I realize from the title that you were afraid you might offend Canadians with the placement of the maple leaves over Gargoyle Kitteh's massive man sacks, I for one thank you for doing so. I cringe every time I see that picture. I hope your weekend was great and that the coming Thanksgiving holiday is full of warmth and happiness for you.

Your "Canadian Thanksgiving" Lol was an interesting speculation, but I'm pretty sure that's not what my sister served us for dinner tonight! Thanks, though. That was funny. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Things are always better in September. I'm sleeping better with the cooler nights and work has started to trickle in (supply teaching SUCKS in that respect). I just got back from the Canadian Air Force Museum on Trenton CFB and got to see the special ops guys practicing their parachuting! Personally, if the plane's not on fire, I see no point in jumping out. Have a great night!

Happy to have you as a friend! The way I see things, friends are the true way to share one's work as it's so hard to get on the FP! Have a great day!
