What day you getting it done?
By safrida on Dec 1, 2014 at 4:24 PM
Hey, darling. Sorry if I had you freaked out. I've had my hands full with a RL issue that is finally looking to be resolved. The parents are fine and my neck is finally starting to get better. Hear you're having an operation on your peepers. Hope it goes well!!
By safrida on Sep 25, 2014 at 4:40 PM
None too bad. Neck's acting up a little tonight, but otherwise good. Not to get into a lot of detail on the net, but a major stressor in my life is in the process of being eliminated, so I'm actually in a rather good mood tonight. And the 'rents are okay. We had Subway at the hospital for dinner. You know, a good old fashioned family meal!

The doctor I initially saw for my neck pain was handing out morphine and lorazapam like it was Halloween. I was on some high octane meds for a few weeks that did nothing to clear up the source of the pain until I saw my own doctor and he gave me some industrial muscle relaxants. I can now look left! Woo hoo!
By safrida on Sep 23, 2014 at 4:13 PM
We're all good. I had a tweaked neck that was being an ISSUE for a few days, and some other crap going on, but it's all sorted.

Card is ossum! Yes, Swiss Chalet is a nation-wide chicken chain that boasts rotisserie chicken and their own secret recipe sauce. The sauce is an "acquired taste" thing. You either love it or hate it. There's no in between. Off to see Guardians of the Galaxy tonight with friends.

Dad's much better and allowed to drive again. This has made Mom Happy because she gets more visitors in the course of the week. And.... Swiss Chalet chicken. She loves Swiss Chalet chicken to the point of obsession and to the point where I can't stand the stuff anymore. I'm good. With Dad a little more self-sufficient I'm able to get more "me" time and will be moving home after the 20th. I love and miss my apartment. How you doing down there? Floods, fires and droughts--hoo boy!

I think the fan cards are a nice idea for Punkin and Missy's supporters over the years. Fans like to be acknowledged once in a while.

The PSW herself solved the crisis this morning by coming after her 9:00 cancelled, then deciding to do some schedule shuffling on her own. It's still a ridiculous situation, especially when Dad's got instructions to shower daily to keep his incisions clean. Off to take him for his second morning walk!
By safrida on Jul 22, 2014 at 2:34 PM
Sigh. Taking a mo before I have to take the casserole out of the oven. Dad's doing much better. He's walking a lot more, feeling a little more like himself and has only had two moments of pain in the last three weeks. So... good. We're having a fight with the care-giver service which is supposed to come and help with his showering. Not only are they only coming out twice a week, they announced today that Dad's permanent Wednesday appt. is now 11:30. Because that's a perfectly convenient time. Idiots. So I've been on the phone politely telling people that they're insane in the brain if they think that is an appropriate time for someone to have a shower, and to send someone else. I mean, yes, we don't have to pay a dime for Dad's surgery, so really, we should STFU, but when they promise that you can return to your home with help in order to keep you from clogging up a hospital bed... Well, put your money where your politician's mouths are. Anyhoo, hoping I'll be here a little more now that Dad's feeling better. If a little smelly.

He's slowly improving. He's been home a week now and managing to do a little more walking, but he's still pretty tired... which is normal after anesthetic. He's trying not to be too much work for me. I'm going up to spend some Mom time tomorrow afternoon. Hope to be on Cheez a little more after a couple of weeks when Dad's a little more self-sufficient. Miss you, too!!

Hey. ON briefly. Dadwatch is going mostly well. He's home and happier, but he i shaving trouble with his blood levels. He's on warfarin and has to be tested frequently so it's meant earlier mornings than either of us anticipated. But he's able to walk, is enjoying the "heart healthy" diet I'm serving and the swelling is starting to go down in his feet and legs. It was like looking at that scene in Big Trouble in Little China where Thunder starts swelling up before he explodes. We have to put compression stockings on him and THAT is an epic challenge. Especially since for three days, Dad was wearing the ones that he wore home from the hospital, which were a size too small. I have had less trouble getting into old girdles. But I have a bit of me time tonight. After I take him for his last walk of the night. Hope to see more of you soon!

Someone told my sister after the fact that it's common for people to spiral into depression after heart surgery. One of her co-worker's sweet-as-pie mother threw her breakfast tray across the room at the nurse, apparently. But he's slowly progressing, and I'm mentally preparing for dealing with attitude when I get him home. I have a party this Sunday for a friend, so long as we don't have to go pick up Dad, and I'm planning on spending a mindless evening in front of the television, so...I'm good!

Oh, I'm fine, Mom's fine and Dad has been Captain Crankypants up in Toronto. I called his nurse this morning and she said he was being a little difficult, but nothing she couldn't handle. (His roommate was an utter asshole according to both my uncle and my sis.) I think he was expecting to finish the surgery and go kite sailing and horseback riding the next day. Not quite. He's tired, sore, and they're still tinkering with the temporary pacemaker. So, it's going to be an uphill battle, but he's got the best care available and he'll be coming back to the loving nursing skills of the supply teacher three VPs had on speed dial for difficult classes. I see that there's a scandal at camp.

Hey, darling one! What's new here is that Dad had his heart surgery yesterday. The operation was successful and he's down in Toronto for the next few days recovering before he goes home. When he does, I move in for at least a month until he is okay to be on his own again.

They caught the shooter. Just around midnight they found where he was hiding and he surrendered. Gotta credit the RCMP officers for not going with their guts and turning the bastard into a bloody sponge. Called for work today, so I'll see you on Monday!! Have an awesome weekend.

It's hard to say if dude is being helped or not. It is a large and wooded area surrounding the neighbourhoods where the searches are underway. Frankly, I'd rather be locked down in my home than in a school or workplace. It's still no picnic for the people who are affected. We do not have a Target in Ptbo and even if we did.... Store brand? For Mom? You Jest!! Surely, you jest!! Funny thing: Target opted out of taking over the Zeller's store here (the company that went bankrupt and sold its spaces to Target) but Walmart purchased it as a smaller, local store. Now, Target in general is tanking in Canada.

I'm sure Hedda will pop up again. And if Agent double elebenty is supposed to be the "james Bond" type.... he's got a girl-cat in every port, right? I'm embracing the chilly day because it means that I can put a heating pad on the trubble zone without sweating to death. And as for Moncton, well, they're looking but they have a feeling he's being tipped off by social media (E.g. "Bunch of cops here outside my house... OMG" or a few who are actively telling him where to go to avoid capture) Hopefully tomorrow brings better news.

Hey, girl! Sciatic is acting up. It's a good thing it's a cool day because the only thing that's soothing it is heat, which I wouldn't be inclined to use on a hot day. We got Mom's Olay. Two bottles, "on sale" for $20.77 each. I gave Dad the receipt and he nearly had his expected heart attack then and there. Told Mom today that after this runs out, Dad's probably bringing her a jar of mayonnaise. Glad the wedding went well. I flaked out early but icguy34 made a pile later for the occasion.

Oooh. You iz responsible person. This is Hedda's last before signing off. Looks like she's about to get an "exclusive" with Double Elebenty! http://cheezburger.com/8211368448

I will definitely try. There's some stuff hitting the fan right now in regards to Dad's health and I may be off for a while looking after him. But I'll try to put in an appearance!
