*chuckle* It wasn't about being favorited, it was about LOLz I make as WW being removed from the voting pages by trolls. All the FP LOLz "Abby" had were dreamed up while I was actually logged in as WW...I'd log out of this profile, log into that one, make the LOL, pop back out...was confusing sometimes! I just wanted to prove a point, and I did. Not that it makes any difference, mind you...but is good to make note of, yes? *hugs*

Oh, I'm sure there are some fundamentalists that don't like what's written in my profile; that's their problem, not mine. That anonymous copying is pure and simple trolling - spite in its purest form done by sad, sad people. They're trying to cause trouble, but really, it's no trouble at all to simply flaf the LOL. It's just one click - much less time than they spent making the copy. ;o)

Aww, thanks for saying that...I've got a lot of awesome friends and a lot of fans, but I've also got one or two "sworn enemies" (peeps I called on the carpet for copying). There's also a lot of folks who think I've been on the FP too much and that I'm the mod's pet. Not true. I'm a pain in their asses and the FP is all about numbers. *shrugs* I do what I do because it pleases me. If it hits the FP - woot! If not - woot! It's all good. :o)

My thoughts exactly on that. If qweenMJ, say, decided to promote a LOL it would be a definite front-pager...and people with thousands of myspace/spacebook friends or widely-read blogs would be able to promote their stuff right to the front page. Granted, it would drive a lot of traffic to the site and bring in new users...but it wouldn't be fair to the thousands of us that have been LOLing away since the beginning. I still say that all the LOLz on the vote page should be anonymous; I think that would help level out the playing field. (I know a lot of people fail mine as soon as they see my name.)

I hope the profile votes are NEVER counted because that puts waaaaay too much "power" in the hands of the trolls. I'd rather have an option that allows us to see who's faved the LOL, but that's just me. :o)

Here's what Tofu had to say: "So the voting system -- the tech people set up an algorithm in the system so that depending on how many win and fail votes a picture gets, it gets moved to the top % of the lolz for that day and those lolz end up making it on the upcoming pages. Each lol is shown only a certain amount of times and then is moved out of the system. Also the votes on people's profile pages don't count towards the votes on the voting page. We are working on that, but for now, only the votes on the voting pages count towards making it to the main page."

I think the process is a lot fairer now than it was in the beginning - it used to be that the mods hand-selected the LOLz that went to the vote page. Now it's all automated as far as the numbers are concerned - there have to be a minimum number of win votes for a LOL to be considered for the FP. Did you have fun at pool volleyball? Sounds like fun!!

Very interesting observations! I really am clueless as to how the whole system actually works, but I had it from the kitty's mouth - as it were - that the voting pages were the sole criteria for what made a LOL qualify for the front page. For me, it really doesn't matter if I never make the FP again. I LOL because it makes me happy and I'm lucky enough that it makes other folks smile as well. I'll keep looking at the "all captions," though, because now you've made me curious. Hope you're having a peaceful Sunday!
