please think good thoughts for my beloved Kato. he is seriously ill

By Olivia77 on Mar 20, 2011 at 12:31 PM

all things considered, i've decided i like alberta winters much much better than ontario ones. no ice storms, for one thing... but there are mountains of snow that look like they will be around until the end of april! how's life in SK?

By Olivia77 on Feb 27, 2011 at 9:32 PM

yes, i have been enjoying the winter, but not when it warms up and gets icy.... sounds like you've been busy. have you seen any movies? i've seen many this winter (good way to while away the long dark days!) including 'black swan' and 'the king's speech.' i haven't been working, but will again in the spring...whenever that actually arrives!

greetings out there - how is life treating you this winter?

By Olivia77 on Jan 3, 2011 at 8:43 PM

sorry to hear you weren't feeling well - hope you've recovered. the cat seems to be 100% and for that i am very grateful. happy new year to you and yours

the kitty has pancreatitis and is on meds now. he's doing so much better. that was a scary episode. it's not nice realizing that he is a very elderly cat and that he too is mortal! the weather here is pretty interesting...a blizzard and now it is supposed to get very cold. how was your week?

By Olivia77 on Nov 18, 2010 at 12:31 PM

i moved...long move...to edmonton and i love it here! thanks for the update. i'm going to try be on ichc now that i'm settled in. =^..^=

By Olivia77 on Jul 28, 2010 at 6:10 PM

i'm almost enjoying my holiday...friday is my last day, but i have certainly been less than productive this week. it has been a killer hot summer here, and it is a bit tiresome. edmonton was fun, had some good food, reconnected with colleagues from afar, and so forth. next on the list is victoria in september for a wedding. have you ever been there? i've never set foot on vancouver island, so it will be a first for me. thanks for the note, take care and enjoy the rest of your week

By Olivia77 on Jun 29, 2010 at 11:41 AM

i've had log in problems in the past, but since they revamped this site, i haven't had any issues. let's see, life... well, there was that minor quake here last week which was a surprise but not a big deal, those stupid G8 riots, weird weather with tornado warnings, lots of work but luckily no asinine politics, and travel for me shortly to edmonton for a conference. life is pretty good! hope all is well with you

By Olivia77 on Jun 18, 2010 at 6:24 PM

hope life is treating you well...have a good weekend

By Olivia77 on Jun 5, 2010 at 10:43 AM

i must admit that i don't watch the news much either, because so much of it is negative. like that oil spill in the gulf of mexico.... i read the paper every day, though. somehow reading things in print makes them easier to take, less intrusive because it isn't cameras shoved in the faces of grieving people or panning across decimated landscapes. myself, i'm fine. can't wait for some real holidays in august! take care and enjoy your weekend

By Olivia77 on May 20, 2010 at 5:13 PM

caveat emporium! that's a great phrase. it's roasting here...and the humidity is like the stinky breath of a giant dog. work has settled down a bit here. i've had a steady stream of company since last week and the latest ones i wasn't expecting! must get back to dinner prep...hope life is treating you well

By Olivia77 on May 6, 2010 at 9:03 PM

yes, i indeed bought a mac. i'm not really used to using it yet and can only do basic things, but it is good to have something that works so well. my old one was certainly a junk heap by comparison. life is pretty good otherwise, nothing major to report. looks like some wild and snowy weather happened out west, but we've avoided that. investors, eh? hopefully some other decent work opportunities will pop up. must hit the hay, so cheers and have a good friday

Finally back online...how are you? how's life?

By Olivia77 on Apr 17, 2010 at 10:16 AM

my home computer died a horrible and inexplicable death last week, so haven't been online much! hope you're well and will write again when i am back online

By Olivia77 on Apr 7, 2010 at 8:50 PM

i like having things to do as well. being idle is fun for about an hour. right now there is too much to do, but have some holidays in three weeks. can't wait! enjoy the rest of the week

By Olivia77 on Apr 1, 2010 at 9:42 PM

that sounds like it was a tough job. working with family can indeed be very complicated. welcome back, though. hope you can relax this weekend

By Olivia77 on Mar 20, 2010 at 10:13 PM

greetings and hope life is treating you well

By Olivia77 on Mar 12, 2010 at 9:04 PM

how are things going? still out on the job? nada of note at this end of the world...

By Olivia77 on Mar 6, 2010 at 10:39 AM

hey, thanks for the note... am recovering from some 'brain congestion' that resulted from a number of meetings last week. right now, am enjoying being lazy! good luck with your renos

i believe this country to be in the stone age of sustainability because there is so little incentive for living off the grid, windmills, and so forth, plus the oil sands out west...arg, don't get me started! their reclamation is laughable but it is such a touchy topic, given the economic benefit to the region. if you look at norway, for example, the government owns all the oil profits, not private companies, and the funds go to health care etc. in denmark, which i have visited, virtually every little town has a wind turbine to generate their own power. i think we have so far to go. i am not an activist in any way, shape or form, but i am dismayed at this country's lackadaisical attitude sometimes! how are you? =^..^=

By Olivia77 on Feb 17, 2010 at 6:25 PM

the word 'sustainability' is tossed around so lightly that i cannot take it seriously anymore! canada is really in the stone age when it comes to that... i have visited the u of s because a friend of mine used to work there. i loved all the elm trees and the greystone architecture. i enjoy writing to you too! it's nice to have other canucks around =^..^=

By Olivia77 on Feb 10, 2010 at 10:48 PM

yes, dubai perplexes me. build a megapolis in the middle of the desert in a place where everything must be air-conditioned to be bearable, water must be shipped in, and so forth... it seems positively laughable and another stunning example of 'brilliant' urban planning! i've been to the u of s campus in s'toon and it is quite gorgeous. seems like a nice little city. cheers and have a good one =^..^=

By Olivia77 on Jan 29, 2010 at 7:29 PM

i had no idea the largest ammo depot was in SK...learn something new every day! toronto doesn't have the tallest structure anymore since that new tower was unveiled in dubai...i'm sure people will get over it.. have a good one =^..^=

By Olivia77 on Jan 26, 2010 at 7:52 PM

hey, sounds like good ol' canadian weather! don't call the army like we do... =^..^=

By Olivia77 on Jan 17, 2010 at 8:49 PM

i do my best to stay in touch with my cheezfriends! work can be all-consuming but c'est la vie. i'll look forward to retiring some day and just writing for fun. yes, that's nasty about the olympic venues hampered by the weather. personally, i love a cold winter's day with sparkly snow. have never been a fan of slushy stuff. take care and happy monday =^..^=

By Olivia77 on Jan 14, 2010 at 4:11 PM

overt competitiveness is part of human nature, i think! regardless, i always like watching the olympics, especially speed skating or downhill skiing (both activities would terrify me in real life!) still enjoying nice weather? =^..^=

By Olivia77 on Jan 10, 2010 at 3:27 PM

i heard it's not so terribly cold out your way now. did you see the olympic torch? i saw on the news that it was in regina. i didn't see it here, unfortunately, but am looking forward to the opening ceremonies on tv! have a good week =^..^=

By Olivia77 on Jan 4, 2010 at 8:52 PM

torontonians are notorious wimps with winter (remember when we called the army for that blizzard?)...actually, i like the cold... and honestly people shouldn't complain considering what you've dealt with...

By Olivia77 on Dec 30, 2009 at 9:47 PM

any stellar new year's plans? hibernation appeals to me! =^..^=
