After 40 years of rockin' on New Year's Eve, television host and TV producer Dick Clark passed away last night after suffering a heart attack following surgery, TMZ reports.

Clark started his career as a radio announcer in New York and went on to create "American Bandstand" in 1957 and the American Music Awards in 1973, along with his signature New Year's Eve festival co-hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

The iconic host was 82 years old.
