AMC is moving from the relatively normal -- the now-canceled The Killing -- to the paranormal. The network announced a series based on the secretive military base, with Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd attached to the project. The series is based on Anne Jacobsen's best-selling novel Area 51. It will be a period piece, set in the 1950s and '60s, and pulls from stories told to Jacobsen by numerous military and science personnel familiar with the site.
