Here's the first composite image ever taken of an extrasolar planet (the red spot on the lower left) orbiting the brown dwarf 2M1207, captured by the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in 2004. Direct imaging of exoplanets have been said to be tricky, as it requires blocking out the light from a vivid star and refining the dimmer light reflected by a planet such as this one.
