Whoever was in charge of the seating plan for this year's State of the Union must have had a good chuckle after seeing this photo of Ted Nugent—the American rock 'n roll musician with a reputation for Obama-bashing and homophobic tirade—looking rather out-of-place next to Portland musician and LGBT activist Thomas Lauderdale, who supports the Occupy Movement and gun control. But looks can be deceiving indeed, as Lauderdale later described his impression of Nugent in an e-mail as "a real gentleman" and said they had a nice chat about hunting and the golden age of rock music.
