Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted to cut the national food stamp program known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by $2 billion per year. In protest of these cuts, Californian democratic congressman Jared Huffman and his team have produced three infographic Vines illustrating the number of Americans who benefit from the SNAP program. Huffman is not the only congressman trying to bring attention to these cuts via social media, as several other House Democrats have volunteered to spend a week living off of $4.50 for food per day as part of an experimental project called the SNAP Challenge.
